This restaurant seems to cater to the elderly.....that's all we saw when we walked in. Food was average and our service was terrible. Too pricey for what we got. We will not be returning.

As a child, we came to the Village restaurant often in the late 50s. We still are coming back for the consistently good food. It has gone through many additions yet is still one of the best spots to enjoy baked haddock with crumbs on top! Well worth the wait on the weekends in the summer. Sit in the original... More

This is the best old-standby restaurant around. Guess that is why it is still around and as popular as it is. Good food for a reasonable price. Eating in dining room or at the bar is a nice experience.

I am confused by the negative reviews, I have been to this restaurant 3 times with my husband. The last time was over the summer for our 2 year anniversary and we have great food and service each time. We love seafood and this is one good restaurant. Yes it is a bit dark inside but we don't mind it.... More

Because periwinkles was closed for the season we decided to try the village restaurant right up the street. The waitress came with cornbread and bread right away. That was the good part. Now for the disappointment. We both ordered haddock which was a bit overcooked. The asparagus was overcooked to the point of being mushy as well but at least... More

We chose the Village Restaurant because we like to eat in the local spots if we can. The food was good, the service was great and the overall experience was worth the ride up from Rockport.

I have eaten repeatedly at this restaurant and have never had a poor meal. They are as passionate about their seafood as I am about eating it. I used to take my mom there also and she loved the food. I go there for their seafood --mainly the Fried Lobster or their Crab Stuffed Filet of Sole, both are delicious.... More

This has been owned and run by the same family for years. This is the place to go for seafood if you don't like to "eat in the rough". Good food, good value and not trendy. They keep their prices reasonable.

We live in Essex and have been eating at the Village restaurant for years, but we find that visitors have not heard that the this is the best food in town. We have NEVER had a bad meal at the Village. Most restaurants don't hold up to that kind of repeat scrutiny and have their ups and downs, but the... More
