This is excellent Ice Cream!!!!!! The portions are huge loaded with tons of extras. They have a huge variety of different flavors as well :) Served on a waffle cone or sugar cone! Yummy!

We enjoy home made ice cream in Massachusetts. But this maple walnut was exceptional -- the pure Vermont maple syrup and fresh black walnuts were immediately evident in an enviable creamy base. No foreign additives, enhances, or incorporated air here -- just pure luscious-ness! Generous servings, reasonable prices, and friendly service enhance the experience. Our new most favorite! the staff here is super friendly, and you can sit on adirondack chairs while eating your amazing ice cream. The flavors are innovative without seeming stupid or contrived. We are big ice cream snobs (loyal to Benson's in Boxford) but after a day at Crane's Beach, this became another family favorite. A great addition to the area.

So in love with this place! Wonderful girls behind the counter, gave us samples, were extremely polite, and even told us about a great icecream treat for our dog. The icecream was yummy, great names and great taste. Portions were huge even for their "baby" which is their small. I also thought the prices were extremely reasonable. The only downside... More

Have been here numerous times and the ice cream is about the best I have ever had - rich and creamy with loads of chips, nuts, etc. Amazing.

I'd given up eating ice cream years ago, because eating it, whether from the parlor or the supermarket, made me feel sick to my stomach. Had heard good things about Down River, and took a houseguest there one hot July day--being a well-bred houseguest who didn't believe my protestations about not eating ice cream, she picked me up a scoop... We used to drive for twenty minutes to enjoy the ice cream at this wonderful local gem. Now that they have opened a second venue in Rowley, the drive is only ten minutes and I would go daily if calories were irrelevant. There is often a line and patience may be needed; but this is some of the best ice... More

Butter Pecan was soft, rapidly melting, and laced with ice crystals. Since this ice cream stand is local we visit fairly often. The quality this year has been very variable. The property is clean and well kept.

We started going to the second second location in Rowley and decided to take a drive to Ipswich. Both locations have limited parking but have a few places to sit(can be very buggy at times). This is the BEST ice cream I think we have ever had. So rich, creamy, tasty authentic! If you are driving by make sure you... More

"Please let your server know if any one in your party has a food allergy." So we did. Allergic to artificial colors, flavors or additives. "Do you have any flavors that don't contain any artificial flavors or colors?" Server: "I dunno." "Is there an ingredients list we can look at?" Server: "Its all made from the same base" "What's in... More
