My wife and I had an excellent and romantic dinner for her birthday with great service. The food was very innovative and as the title of the review.... if you can still get the soft-shell crab when you read this review, don't hesitate.

L'etoile is on the Vineyard so it's virtually guaranteed to be an expensive night. Having said that, I've had several expensive dinners on the Vineyard that were strictly average. L'etoile is above-average. Depending on your taste, you might consider it excellent. It comes down to your taste. If you love gourmet food that combines several different, exotic flavors in each... We had dinner there in the outside part of the restaurant. I love the atmosphere they've created with lights and plants, it looks great, romantic and the setting really matches/respect the neighborhood, very elegant yet simple. We had the tasting menu along with a bottle of wine. Food was very good and service was great! I asked for a candle... More

The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere though it is pretty formal. We enjoyed our meal a lot. Gaspacho soup was good but pretty ordinary. But the main dishes were outstanding: lobster was prepared perfectly. The fish was also very tasty and cauliflower purée so delicious! The service was great, the waiter was very attentive but not overbearing. The dishes... More

L'Etoile is a very upscale restaurant under a white tent next to a lovely B&B. My wife and I stayed here 50 years ago!! Wonderful classic menu, very attentive service, good wine list, food was well prepared and served. Expensive but service and food and ambience in a unique setting beautifully decorated made for a memorable evening for 6 adults.... More

L'etoile sends a clear message - big food - big bill - big egos - big deal. If that's not what you are looking for go somewhere else. The dinner tent reminds one of a wedding - I kept looking for the bride. The food was well prepared, but uninspired - all the usual suspects. The value-price ratio is a... More

A slice of French elegance in Edgartown. Ate there on our last evening and loved the food and the setting.

I have dined both in the inside dining room and in the tent outside. The setting is elegant and tasteful. I have never been disappointed with a meal and I'm a foodie. I have even dropped in for just dessert in the late evening. The wait staff are patient, attentive and caring in helping guide you in a selection of... More

I selected L'etoile for my special birthday dinner in Edgartown and was glad I did. We ate outside on the patio (enclosed by shrubs, lanterns hanging) and it was romantic as the hostess said when I made the reservation. Food and service were excellent. I especially liked my lobster etoufee. Restaurant is somewhat pricey, but I'd highly recommend it for... More

We have eaten here on several occasions . The lobster étouffée Is always perfectly cooked. It is moist , tender, pre-cracked, mildly spiced, and memorable. The service is excellent. We recommend eating in the garden which cooler and very romantic. All of the fish Is fresh and well prepared.
