Mad as hell

Get the Cape Cod Rueben which is a Rueben made of fish and the rest. Anything is good but you can't fail with that. Ice Cream is great and so are the shakes. The specials are a nice combination which I really don't or should not eat because of my weight but give in because it is too goo. At... read more

We stopped in here for a fast lunch during our summer trip to Cape Cod. It is a nice stop but nothing special. They have nice picnic tables outside under the trees if you want to relax in the shade, but the view is of the parking lot so overall nothing special. Overall I would recommend you find some other... Decent selection of food... hot chicks behind the counter... but they have a big problem that they need to do something about. I've seen some cute animals there... chipmunks, bunnies, birds... but they have a rat problem and I saw a young rat too. I noticed at least 3 rat traps around the perimeter so I had an idea that... Our family went there with an appetite for fried fish. The servings were small and overpriced. I ordered a dinner that came with coleslaw which was spoiled. My husband ordered a Reuben made with fried cod. It was topped with the same spoiled coleslaw. We returned both into their credit they refunded my husband sandwich. The french fries were dry... Been going to Kate's every summer. Never really had anything other than ice cream and fried clams / oysters, etc. Love it all. Will continue to go there for the scoops and sinful shakes for sure. Lobster rolls are still good - but getting pretty pricey for what they are. There's better out there. Walked up from Paines Creek beach... More

If you want a lobster roll that majors in lobster, this is the place. There is plenty of outside seating and the servings are prodigious. We didn't indulge - the lobster roll was too filling - but they have very popular ice cream, as well.

Kate's opened for the summer season with higher prices but not better food. Their mostly fried seafood menu includes all the usuals, clams, onion rings, French fries, hamburgers, lobster rolls, fishwich, etc., but the clam fritters we had were overcooked and hard. Quantity was more than ample, but quality was lacking on this particular favorite of mine.

The fried clams were excellent, and the curly spicy fries great. Only regret is my Mom and I should have gotten only one clam plate to share. The dinners were so huge; we felt bad we couldn't eat it all, and had to throw some away. Rich thick black raspberry ice cream shake. Prices a little high but will definitely... More

Very Rude Owner that treats her staff terribly. There are much better fried food and Ice Cream places just down the road in Brewster.

We had some fried seafood platters and ice cream from Kate's during a recent trip to the Cape and came away with mixed reviews. Overall the service was friendly and efficient. The food arrived quickly and was about what we expected from a walk-up, seat yourself service - decent and plentiful. We also had ice cream which was very good.
