Four of us had a lovely meal an New Year's Eve. Unfortunately, my chicken was not cooked to completion. But it was redone and it was delicious. We've been there before and will go again. If you go there for a special and it is a holiday, make sure beforehand what will be included. Although the $19.99 special included wine,... More

Our innkeeper recommended The Barnstable for a low-key place with atmosphere and good food. Very Correct!! Paneled bar/tavern area with comfortable seating and a great staff. Delicious clam chowder, cavatappi prosciutto with peas, and sautéed shrimp scampi. Everything was "just off the boat" fresh, well seasoned, and generously proportioned. The Inn also has a lovely dining room for a more... More

There are only a few restaurants on Cape Cod that are open Christmas day and we've tried most of them. This year we decided on the Barnstable Tavern. It turned out to be the right choice. We did have a reservation but arrived a bit early. No problem, we were seated immediately. The holiday menu was somewhat limited but there... More

We ate at The Barnstable Restaurant and Tavern the day after Thanksgiving. We were looking for a nice tavern experience after a day of driving and touring around Cape Cod. We did not have reservations but were able to get a table in the bar area at 7pm. Unfortunately, that was the last truly good experience we had. Our server... More

Well, let me tell you, ALL restaurants on Cape Cod are extremely expensive!!!! And, I do not mind paying for a good meal but when most of them are mediocre it's discouraging. Barnstable was one of the best meals we had on the Cape. It was a little pricey but well worth coming here. The décor is quaint, very elegant... More

The atmosphere and service - a Monday lunch - were tops. I didn't expect much from a GF lunch but was surprised by an extensive GF menu (always reassuring) and then the chef blew me away with just the best gluten-free shrimp dish: fresh zucchini, spinach, carrots, peas, scallions and shrimp in a white wine and light cream. Wish I... More

We were staying outside Boston and decided to drive down to Plymouth, then to Cape Cod. Found this wonderful restaurant on Trip Advisor. Reviews were good, but the actual experience far exceeded our expectations. This is a lovely restaurant and our food was superb. Our server, Ashley, was a true delight and really made our experience really enjoyable! Talking with... More
