Great burgers

My wife and I were out together on a rainy day in the fall and decided to grab a late lunch. She ordered soup a a light salad and a Bloody Mary which was excellent. I had a pub burger and it was cooked perfectly and the IPA I had with it (draft) was great. Cute waitress who was very... read more

A very basic bar/ menu item and the very worst we've ever had.....Not sure why an owner would opt to have the lowest quality of an easily obtained frozen commodity in a more upscale area...

We were staying on Cape Cod for 3 nights and on recommendation of our hosts at the guest house we decide to eat here on one of the evenings. On arrival we chose to sit in the bar area and were seated in a booth. In comparison to other eateries we have been in this week it was fairly quiet... More

What a treat to have this special place right around the corner from me. The menu is extensive and not one dish in my parties of 6 for each of two visits was disappointed. Absolutely fresh, lively in flavors, and distinct yet remained authentic to the local cuisine. Very delicious fish too. A bonus that it's in a historic building... More

Had a reservation for 7:30. It was busy, but no others coming in at this time. Seated right away. Drink orders taken and delivered. Appetizer ordered and delivered. The most greasy calimari I have ever had. Orders taken for entrees. Over a one hour wait to eat. Overly sauced pasta, dry lamb shanks and where were those artichokes on the... More

Four of us had a lovely meal an New Year's Eve. Unfortunately, my chicken was not cooked to completion. But it was redone and it was delicious. We've been there before and will go again. If you go there for a special and it is a holiday, make sure beforehand what will be included. Although the $19.99 special included wine,... More

Our innkeeper recommended The Barnstable for a low-key place with atmosphere and good food. Very Correct!! Paneled bar/tavern area with comfortable seating and a great staff. Delicious clam chowder, cavatappi prosciutto with peas, and sautéed shrimp scampi. Everything was "just off the boat" fresh, well seasoned, and generously proportioned. The Inn also has a lovely dining room for a more... More

There are only a few restaurants on Cape Cod that are open Christmas day and we've tried most of them. This year we decided on the Barnstable Tavern. It turned out to be the right choice. We did have a reservation but arrived a bit early. No problem, we were seated immediately. The holiday menu was somewhat limited but there... More

We ate at The Barnstable Restaurant and Tavern the day after Thanksgiving. We were looking for a nice tavern experience after a day of driving and touring around Cape Cod. We did not have reservations but were able to get a table in the bar area at 7pm. Unfortunately, that was the last truly good experience we had. Our server... More
