Stopped in here for lunch while visiting on the Cape. We were very satisfied with the service and our meals. We all had sandwiches, BLT, crab salad and clam roll. The sandwiches were good and plentiful. Our server, Julie, was great, very attentive. The bill for the sandwiches and drinks came to $60, not too shabby. We would definitely eat... More

We were looking for a little getaway for brunch on a cool Sunday afternoon and after checking around various Cape restaurants came upon the Barnstable Restaurant. I made reservations on Saturday night speaking with Heidi who was a pleasure and who was also working on Sunday and saved us a nice booth. The restaurant has a rather limited brunch menu... More

This was not our first time, but food was great as usual. Although there were several people in the bar area, the dining room was almost empty and we are amazed that this is such a well kept secret. The menu is so extensive and everything we've gotten there is always topnotch. Rolls were right out of the over, hot... More

Had tickets to cape Cod Symphony on a recent Sunday. Symphony site advertised Barnstable Inn offered 20% discount off lunch if you had symphony tickets. When we told waitress of our tickets, Discount was denied. Then, I took two sips of my Cosmo, only to knock it over accidentally, my sleeve catching on the glass. I would like a restaurant's... More

We went there on a busy night when there was a play across the street. They have an extensive menu to look over. All of the staff seemed to know that there were deadlines, yet we never felt hurried or anxious about finishing in time. There were 4 of us and we each had something different, and each of us... It was not our first visit to this restaurant and it never disappoints. An extensive menu with many local items. The clam chowder is amazing and the crab cake entree is great. There are local beers on tap. Service is fast and friendly. The building and it's tavern and restaurant are ideally located in the centre of Barnstable. Lots of... More

We were in for dinner early on a recent Friday night with our 2 kids and a friend. We were able to sit in the tavern side which I find more cozy and relaxing than the dining room. We were greeted warmly by the hostess who sat us where we asked to. The menu was extensive and hard to choose... More

Uninspiring food, though waitress was very sweet. The veggie burger was inedible. We had lunch in the tavern side; not sure if dining room offers better fare.

My husband and I have been here about a dozen times because it's local and the food is always good. We always know going in the service is going to be slow. Finally we had just had enough. Every single time we were there the place seemed so short-staffed. The hostess was bussing tables and filling drinks behind the bar.... More

A local restaurant that should have been a better choice. Unfortunately the hot water in the bathrooms did not work. extreme cold water to wash hands. Told the server and she said they were aware of the problem but it would be taken care of the next day. Was there hot water in the kitchen I hope so. The claim... More
