Stopped in to the Barnstable Restaurant and Tavern this past Saturday night. The menu is huge so there is certainly something for everyone! We started with appetizers. My husband had the calamari which was delicious and I had the vegetarian egg rolls which were very large and delicious! For dinner my husband had the cavatappi with prosciutto, peas and parmesan... It sounds like you and your husband had a great date night here, and I'm so glad! You really can't go wrong by starting out with the calamari and egg rolls. I'll make sure the kitchen hears all your compliments about the cavatappi and baked sole as well. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review... More

The food is good, enjoy good drinks with Judy and Hilda. Had an issue with a side order, after dining here 5 times in 2 weeks, called the owner over the phone, and was ask not to dine here anymore, and SHE HUNG UP on me! I guess Biz, is doing great, in order to dismiss a customer who lives... More

Crappy service. Made a reservation, got there on time got seated only for waitess to come over, move our plates to a crappy table because a "regular" came in. Waitress then focused on "regulars" and ignored us. Outside band was playing so loud that every time the front door opened the restaurant shook.

This is really shocking and disappointing to read, Bill. Please know that we would never favor one customer over another, regardless of how many times they've been here. I apologize if it seemed that way at all when you came in. It sounds like there was a miscommunication among our staff, so I'll make sure to address your concerns with... More

We recently visited the Barnstable Restaurant. We had a lot of difficulty ordering drinks for starters. They couldn't make a virgin strawberry daiquiri, too busy. It took about 15 minutes to get our regular drinks, vodka gimlet, vodka martini etc. We also ordered 2 bottles of Louis Martini Cab which took forever to come out. Two people in our party... More

Unfortunately, I think you have the wrong restaurant for this review. We have neither the wine nor the entrees you mentioned. That said, next time you're in the area, we'd love to welcome you here for a meal. Sincerely, Susan Finegold, Owner More

The food we have enjoyed here in the past has been pretty good. Unfortunately the other night we drove about twenty miles to enjoy dinner on the out door patio and were sadly disappointed. We were seated immediately however I soon noticed that many patrons near our table were sitting with nothing on their tables. No water, no menus, no... More

I want to sincerely apologize for the wait you experienced when you came in last. As you know, this isn't normal for us, and sometimes if we get an unexpected amount of customers at once, things can get a little hectic for the staff. That said, the hostess should have apologized and offered to get someone to take care of... More

We called in on a quiet Tuesday evening, about 8.30. A friendly greeting and we were offered choice of locations. We chose the informal bar area which might not have been the best choice as at one stage it was just us there. Food was not great - I had an average burger and the meatballs with the spaghetti were... More

I'm happy you stopped in to give our place a try, but it's a bummer to hear we didn't completely impress you with our menu. We use fresh ingredients and put a lot of care into each dish, so we never want our food described as average. Still, I understand everyone has different preferences, so I'd love for you to... More

Post-whale watch lunch. Fast, friendly and affordable. Food was good for a quick, late lunch. I would come back for dinner because the menu looked good too.

We ate at the Barnstable Restaurant and Tavern on two consecutive evenings. On the first evening, we were a party of 5 adults and ate indoors. We had not reserved a table in advance and were impressed by how willing the staff was to accommodate us. The food was wonderful, generous and varied. Of particular note was a delicious sole... More

I'm so happy to know that you decided to dine with us twice in two days. What a treat for us! Still, I'm sorry to hear about the patio situation.
