We hadn't gone to Moby Dick in a long time, but went again tonight. The sushi was terrific! We had sweet potato roll (new to us), crunch spicy tuna roll, and dynamite roll. It was a very good combination of spicy and sweet, according to the woman who co-runs the restaurant with her husband, Chang Pyon, who is a first-class... More

This book can't be judged by its cover. Small, and not much to look at, but the food is wonderful. There is obviously much care taken in the selection of ingredients and the preparation, which seems to be true of fewer sushi places these days. Everything I've tried has been great, but the spicy tuna rolls are my favorite....the chicken... More

We return again and again to Moby Dick's for their excellent sushi, miso soup and cooked entrees (our favorite is the salmon). A family-run restaurant, the service has always been terrific. Our young children love the edamamae, miso soup, shrimp tempura and California rolls and always appreciate the children's chopsticks that are provided. The sushi is spot on 90% of... More

Gnocchi Sorrentina in Positano. Pizza at DiFara's in Brooklyn. And the spicy, crunchy tuna roll at Moby Dick's. The three best things I've ever eaten. No, this is not the House of Kabob. It is tucked away, a real hole in the wall. I missed it the first couple of years I lived in Silver Spring because I could not... More

I went to this place after reading all the reviews on here about how wonderful the sushi is; but WOO I was disappointed. First off, I ordered the Bento Box D. The rice was an unseasoned blob. The nori on the tuna roll was dry and poorly wrapped. The Miso soup was over salted. And the Sashimi was unevenly cut.... More

I met a colleague here for lunch, and it was our first time visiting the place. I don't eat Sushi, so I ordered the Tofu Teriyaki special ($13). It came with rice, Miso soup, salad, carrots and broccoli. Everything was fresh and tasted great. The portion was so large that I couldn't even finish it. My colleague got one of... More

Unforgivable, hostile service at Moby Dick. My family and I were treated miserably at this establishment tonight, and we will never return. A shame really, because we have enjoyed Moby Dick without incident a few times in the recent past. The sushi is far from the best we have ever had, but this neighborhood, family-run restaurant had previously sent us... More

I have to admit that I've eaten at Moby Dick a lot. Really. But when I sat down to write this review, I thought, "hey, if the place is average, why do I keep going back?" And in fact, there was a time when I just stopped going (after an encounter with some off-smelling fish on my plate there one... More

I wanted to like this sushi restaurant because there aren't many good sushi places in Maryland outside of DC. But this one made really bland maki rolls. The California roll was made with the imitation crab you get at the supermarket. The cucumber roll was just bland, the eel roll was good but the rice wasn't very sticky. Spicy tuna... More

Don't be fooled by the outside. We thought this might be a crab house by the looking at the place. To our great surprise this is truly authentic sushi. Some restaurants go for the high tech or fancy decor and your basic California roll menu. This is the most authentic sushi I've had in the greater DC area. This wonderful... More
