great value for the money

Loved the fried watercress and tuna ginger appetizer. They are more than enough for an entree for a small to average eater. Had the soup with lemongrass and shrimp on the next visit and it well flavored but not as interesting. You have to street park but I've had a problem finding a nearby spot... read more

Ruan Thai in Wheaton has been our go to Thai restaurant for take out, and occasionally for dining in for the last four years. The restaurant is very handsome, well sized, well located. The only down side to this restaurant is that parking almost always needs to be on street parking as they have a microscopic parking lot. Our take... More

Watercress appetizer is one of best dishes in dc area. I like all their curries and duck dishes. We tried a ginger eggplant tofu dish last night that we thoroughly enjoyed. We go at least once a month and this restaurant never disappoints. Wait staff remembers it's customers and are across the board attentive and friendly. Love this place.

Wife and I like to eat here with friends every few weeks. Parking is a bit of a pain, DO NOT PARK in front of the Dry Cleaner or Hair Place next door; they are nuts about towing cars. Street parking is no big deal and at worst a Mont Co lot is a block away. Mind you, I love... More

We ordered the thai watercress salad and the whole fried flounder with a chili sauce on the side. The Thai watercress salad (deep fried watercress and shrimp/squid) was good. But it was missing some spicy sauce. The whole fried flounder was crispy but the chili sauce was terrible. It wasn't spicy at all, just a brown thick texture with a... More

It was certainly adequate enough, but what with all of the raves on Urban Spoon I guess I expected a lot more. Hard the Larb and sliced grilled eggplant as starters. Certainly decent enough, just not terribly memorable. My son had the Pad Thai (serviceable) while I had the fried crispy duck. I should've asked about the preparation. Not sure... More

I was surprised to walk into a huge massive hall Thai restaurant. Apparently the place is quite popular for many groups of people. I ordered 2 spicy salad, 2 entree and one noodles. I found all the food are two sweet for my taste. I heard that noodles dishes are popular but will try next time. If you go for... More

I'm Thai who can cook so I don't go to a Thai restaurant often and am choosy when I go. This place WAS my favorite years ago when it was small. Now they expand the restaurant but some how the quality goes down and price goes up. So time to say good bye. The place is busy during dinner hours... More

As to full disclosure....I stopped going to Ruan Thai because the service was soooo slow. So, I wasn't expecting much... We ordered take-out. It took 45 minutes, which seemed like a lot, bu they explained that they were very busy that night. They were quite nice as I waited in their reception area. The main dining room has doubled in...
