Red Hot and Blue is a full-service, casual-themed restaurant chain and caterer featuring delicious award-winning ribs, Memphis-style barbeque, smoked wings, and Southern sides and desserts. The atmosphere is steeped in legendary and contemporary blues music and delivers a large dose of Southern hospitality in a fun and entertaining dining environment. History: The first Red Hot and Blue restaurant opened in Arlington, Virginia in 1988, started by Lee Atwater, Don Sundquist and friends. Don Sundquist was from Memphis and served in the House of Representatives and as governor of Tennessee. The late Lee Atwater was an amateur blues musician and political figure that managed George H.W. Bush's successful race for the presidency. These men were friends who longed for authentic Memphis-style barbeque and great blues music. Unable to find that combination anywhere in the Washington, DC area they decided the only way to get it done was to open a restaurant of their own. The Memphis-style barbeque chain celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2013 by partnering with a charitable organization at 24 different restaurant locations. The yearlong celebration culminated in the presentation of thousands of dollars in donations to local charities. The Name: The name, "Red Hot and Blue" is taken from the title of D.J. Dewey Phillip's radio show that that aired on WHBQ-AM in Memphis, Tennessee in the 1950s. This radio show launched the careers of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash and broadened the audience for artists such as BB King, Muddy Waters, Robert Cray and Rufus Thomas. Red Hot & Blue Dine-In, Take-Out and Catering. Hickory-smoked Memphis-style BBQ, Ribs, Wings, Beef Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Seafood, Full-service Bar, in a Family-friendly atmosphere with a heapin' helpin' of Southern Hospitality!

This is our go to spot for bar-b-que now and their wings are just outstanding. We don't even go to Dave's anymore because the memphis dry rub wings & ribs are great. I tried the seafood platter and that was delicious too. I normally eat my fish with something on it but I didn't need anything on it at Red,... More

I was looking for something a little different for Dinner. I came across this Red Hot & Blue on-line. I browsed their menu and was a bit interested with their selection. I went there for dinner alone. I was greeted right away by the host and seated immediately. I did how ever sit a few minutes with no one paying... More

Every time we go to the Red Hot & Blue restaurant we always have good food. My favorites are the catfish that is lightly fried and perfectly cooked, potato salad, beans with bits of shredded pork, roasted chicken, chicken tenders, and of course their bar-be-que chicken and pork. There ice tea is really good. You never leave the place hungry.... More

I went to that restaurant as part of a group. I was in a minority being the only vegetarian. I opted for the sweet potato fries with cinnamon and I was not disappointed. The drinks came in jug and I was waiting for a glass but it is a jug by person not for that table! Meat eaters were very... More

Our most recent visit was prompted by one of those intense needs for their potato salad, coupled with the great St Louis style ribs (a slab of course) coupled with the afore mentioned potato salad, corn bread and a pitcher of ice tea....what more could one ask for ! The food arrived and was the piping hot temperature that you... More

Red beans and rice, collards, baked beans, sweet ribs, pulled chicken, beef brisket and, oh, did I forget to mention the cornbread muffins?!!!! Wow, try putting all that on a plate and you've got the perfect leftover lunch for the next day. Folks have been sleeping on this place. Great service and even better food. Hot and filling. Music was... More

Wow! I consider myself a "barbeque afficionado", and, for a "chain" restaurant, this one ranks high on my list! Our server, Felicia, was friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks come in 32-oz. pitchers (I didn't need a refill)--I ordered the "Two-Timer", and, being a big eater, did NOT walk away hungry--The beef brisket and pulled pork were very moist and tender,... Hadn't been to a RHB in years. Stopped by this one on the way to DC recently. I tried the grilled half chicken. They used a dynamite seasoning, and it was really good! My sides were cole slaw ... decent ... and a baked sweet potato. The latter came with cinnamon butter. It was butter infused with a lot of... More
