Executive chef deserves awards

Wedding party of over 200 served best Maryland crab cakes ever. rehearsal dinner was also exceptional. I mention these large parties because it is perhaps more difficult to manage serving groups with food which is as excellent as if it were ordered one plate at a time.

The afternoon started with tea time, then several hours later, drinks and appetizers, then on to a 6 course dinner. All that in one day, then pre breakfast and breakfast the following morning.

This whole inn complex was charming. We attended a wedding reception here, with cocktails in the lovely gardens and dinner in a nearby bungalow-style building. Food was elegant and beautifully served. The 1844 fieldstone inn was gorgeously appointed but we did not stay there. Also numerous lodging cottages on the grounds, which looked intriguing. We would return here as a... More

Eight of us thoroughly enjoyed an evening at Antrim 1844. I cannot call it just a meal; it's really an experience, from the moment the guest arrives at the mansion's reception lobby. We were escorted to a variety of sitting rooms and bars to enjoy a beverage and butlered canapes as we relaxed a bit before being shown to our... More

We were guests at the Antrim 1844 Inn and took advantage of a package special that included the prix fixe dinner at the Smokehouse Restaurant. This is a 6 course dinner prepared by their award winning chef served in a number of beautifully appointed dining rooms featuring fireplaces, dimmed lighting and original stone floors. For the price you pay, you would... More

Smokehouse is the Antrim Inn restaurant and one of the many reasons to stay at the Antrim in Taneytown. Once again, it did not disappoint. This is a 6 course dinner. Guests are seated in one of a series of small rooms, some with a fireplace, all quiet and comfortable. The wine list comprises a very large volume with about... More

Gotta love this getaway place for high tea with great passed hors dorves, fine drinks, great rooms (that are beyond words) and a restaraunt to put things over the edge. Book the "Getaway package" and treat yourselves to the opulent surroundings of this establishment. Have been coming for 5 years back with the previous head chef. Thing are just as... More

We had dinner in the Smokehouse as part of the Antrim 1844 Winter Getaway Package. The dinner was well above our expectations! Great service all around, cozy atmosphere, and some very delicious food offerings. Not to mention the outstanding wine list!

Great ambience. The real thing. Great wine list. Great food. Breakfast was also very good (after a wonderful dinner the night before). Only one criticism: twice we have had dinner and both times both of us have found dessert disappointing -- almost as if the restaurant is discouraging ordering dessert at all.

Good eats, Nice atmosphere, and great people. A bit pricey, but well worth it. Plan way ahead. Spending the night is a great option, but again a bit pricey.
