Very Good, But Not Quite Great, Steakhouse

My fiance and I have visited The Classics at least once a month for as long as I can remember. To be frank the service in the dining area can be a bit spotty at times, but the food has always been delicious, well cooked and reasonably priced (for the DC-area especially). I would recommend sitting... read more

Over the years, I've brought friends and business associates many times...and I have never had a bad meal. The service and food are consistently top-notch. The steaks of all cuts always impress...and the sides are incredible. The creamed spinach is legendary, the mac and cheese is evil-good, and they even elevate broccoli crowns. But seriously...the service is ALWAYS spot on.... More

My family and went to this restaurant for the first time. There was 8 of us. When we got to the table it took over 20 min for anyone to come. It took forever to get our drinks. The waiter was terrible. We hardly saw him. It took over and hour to get our meals and when finally did come... More

Great priced and wonderfully seasoned steaks, included sides, best crab imperial! Can be casual and sit at the bar for some cashews to snack while conversing with the bartenders. With your check you get a brandy-hot chocolate in the winter or homemade Swiss Chocolates in the summer months. Solid every time!

I think the title says it all. The steaks, sides, complimentary sweet at the end of the meal - there is nothing I don't like about this place. I even love how they only have a few desserts on their menu, including a root beer float, though I have never once had room for dessert when I went. (Scratch that,... More

This is a beef house, pure and simple. They do a good job with all sorts of beef (steaks, prime rib), cooked as you ask for it. What sets this place apart is the rest of it. Among the four of us, we ordered mac and cheese, creamed spinach, mushrooms, scallop appetizer, coconut cake, and all were pretty good. In... More

Top shelf ribeyes cooked to perfection (med rare, medium and medium well) with a great peppercorn cream sauce. The crab entrée was also superb. The crab bisque was outstanding as a starter and 2 of us wished we had ordered a bowl vice a cup. The one person who had not ordered soup initially, changed her mind after a taste... More

We've been here quite a few times. The steaks, salads and sides (they are kind enough to steam the spinach for us) are always good. Putting things like spicy cashews on the table before dinner and giving you chocolates or hot chocolate (depending on the season afterward) are nice twist that the big chains don't do. Prices are very good... More

We went here based on reviews from trip advisor and I know all experiences are subjective, I get that and that being said our thoughts was that this place just wasn't all that. Service was fine, nothing special. Beer and wine menu is limited - we did not order any cocktails. So can't comment there. Food itself was medicore at... More

I've been to almost every steakhouse in DC, and in my humble opinion this place has the best steaks at the most reasonable prices! Highly recommend. If you dare, order the ribeye cowboy cut...
