i met my sister here for dinner and we had a lovely time. We shared the bacon wrapped scallops, blackened (2 large) It was a lovely presentation and perfectly cooked. We then each had petite filets, mine perfectly medium rare and my dear sister's done well (sad but true). We shared creamed spinach... read more

On a Saturday evening, by myself, I was seated in the grill room, which was largely empty. I ordered food and started eating nuts and drinking a beverage and reading a novel on my iPad. After at least ten minutes, a waiter came to me and said they had a policy of no computers in the restaurant because people wanted... More

Over many visits, my wife and I decided that the best experience for us was dining at the bar where we have access to the bartender and the kitchen. Almost always, we order steaks. The sliced sirloin steak salads are terrific, and good value, and we can share comfortably an excellent ribeye and a Cesar salad. Rays--or the Classic--and it... More

Several years ago, my wife and I had one of the worst dining experience ever at Rays The Classics in Silver Spring. It wasn't the food or the location, however - it was the people. Both those we spoke with on the telephone to make the reservation and the staff once we got there. Rude, obnoxious, uncaring, and downright almost... More

I like Ray's - drinks are good, food is good. It's a great spot for nibbles especially if you're heading or coming from the AFI Silver Theater. It's unique - not uniform, cut out restaurant like a chain. Feel like I could light a cigarette up there but of course you can't but something Bogie would frequent. Bar side has... More

I really enjoy the atmosphere and the food at the Classics. From the spicy mixed nuts as a free starter to the select cuts of beef, you can't go wrong here. The Classics is better than any of the standard Tier 1 Steakhouse chains (i.e. Morton's) and less expensive as well.

We had an excellent dinner on Sat. night there. The waiter was informative and professional. He was attentive whenever we needed him and did not rush us through the meal. We sat at a banquette that is part of the bar and ordered the hanger steak. It came with choice of salad or crab bisque. Both were well prepared. The generous... More

I'm in Silver Spring only a few times a year, and every time I find myself craving a trip to Classics (it's no longer Ray's Classics). A comfortable place to eat at the bar, which I did on this occasion. Bar service a little too relaxed, but the crab bisque is so exquisite I never want to miss it and... More

We took our college student and friend here for a last great food experience before back to the dorm. The food and service were great. The steaks here are amazing. We did have a strange service experience. We mostly all like steaks (four of us) except my daughter. We got seated and asked for a grill menu (the menu from... More

The bistro menu is the best deal, it's a ton of food at a great price. The a la carte menu is too steep (but still fair for DC). The steaks are perfectly cooked to order, the bite of desert at the end of a meal is a great touch.
