Good food...needs lighting upgrade

We had dinner here a few nights ago.... The food was very good for the price. The owners should increase the lighting and shovel the ice on their parking lot and sidewalk. Joe G

Burmese food is a strange mix of Indian/Thai/Chinese/God knows what else. Certainly the dishes you get in a Burmese restaurant won't be "the same old Asian food" that you've had way too many times. So if you want to really try something new, try Burmese. My partner loves a lot of dishes here. I just like two but I'd kill... More

Remember back when it was a doughnut shop over in College Park. This place has really grown up and the food is still amazing. If you have never tried Burmese cooking you are in for a treat.

This was my first experience of Burmese food - and I have to say I was very impressed. The menu is straightforward and the staff are happy to explain the menu items. The food was very tasty (even those with cabbage which surprised me!) - and it was very good value for money. This is an excellent, family-run restaurant -... More

This is a great restaurant. We love it every time we go. It is family owned, friendly, and the food is delicious. We travel a long way to get there and it's worth it.

Never having tasted Burmese cuisine before, I wasn't sure what to expect. I'd describe it as a cross between Indian & Asian as Myanmar is situated at the crossroads between the two. An understated dining room, friendly service and delectable flavored made this a memorable experience. Big flavors coupled with fresh ingredients!

We began eating at Mandalay when it was a 'hole in the wall' in College Park. We left the area for NC in 2006, but return to the DC area 1-2 times/year to visit. We always make a point of eating at Mandalay. The food is outstanding, and extremely veg friendly. All vegetarian entrees are vegan. The service is fine.... More

Ok, this was the ONLY Burmese food I've ever had, so my frame of reference is limited. But I would keep coming back here over and over if I didn't live 3500 miles away. I basically let my server choose my food for me. I had the Lethoke Sone as a starter. A touch greasy, but delish. Get it. Also... More

I've been getting take-out from here for a few years (while my wife I babysit for our grandson), but never ate in the restaurant. We were glad we came, because the menu was much larger and the food, as usual, was unusual, with spices that had us wondering how they could make their sometimes plain ingredients taste so special. Sour... More

Ever since my office relocated to Silver Spring, Mandalay has been the go to place for birthday celebrations or just plain lunchtime stomach grumbling. Although influences from China, India and Thailand are apparent, Burmese cuisine has its own unique identity, and it surprises me that it has not caught on as well as other South East Asian offerings. The menu... More
