We ate here again this week and had a terrific meal. It deserves its rating as the best restaurant in Silver Spring. Despite its location in an unassuming shopping center, it is easy to find, just north of the Beltway, It would be worth a detour from the tourist routine in downtown DC. This time, although I'm by no means... More

This is still a great place for a very good meal at a reasonable price. We shared three dishes, one a traditional Indian lamb, another more vegetarian, and another off the Indo-Chinese part of the menu. Each was terrific. Service first rate, too. It has been a favorite since it opened. Quality remains high as ever.

My friend and I agreed to have lunch at this restaurant because of its proximity to the Federal campus off New Hampshire Avenue...my friend's workplace. I had called the day before to determine whether or not the restaurant could and would cook without wheat or other source of gluten for me. After consultation with the chef, they told me that... Jewel of India is appropriately named it is gem. Trip Advisor’s reviews are right on it is excellent. I had never been there before associating the shopping center with a thrift store but the inside of the restaurant is immaculately clean. They did a very good job of making the place feel upscale. The food and service are both excellent.... More

On some occasions, the menu was not available and I was required to order from the buffet. I do not care for that. When the menu is available, the palak chat is amazing as are the lamb korma and the coconut curry chicken. The service takes a while to warm up, but when they do, they are excellent. One suggestion... More

Some of the best indian food I've eaten outside of India. This is a must do, and a phenomenal value for lunch. The bread -- nan is served as part of the buffet -- is outstanding and right out of the oven, as was the paratha that I ordered for an extra charge of $3. Don't let the shopping center... More

I wish Indian restaurants opened from 11:00am on, but they close at 3:00pm and don't open until 5:00pm. I like to get a head start on dinner. Anyway, it was worth the wait. The Jewel was a jewel. The decor was elegant with charger plates on the table. I am not an adventurous diner so I stick to dishes that... More

This is my family's favorite place to go for celebrations. The food is fantastic, the service is friendly and flawless, the music is soothing, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. We have sampled from each part of the menu, including fish, chicken, lamb and vegetarian dishes, drinks and dessert. Not one thing has been less than superb. The only problem... More

Our new favorite hometown Indian food spot! Portions are generous, service impeccable and food out of this world. Don't let the location fool you - this is first class all the way. Try it!

The menu was extensive and most of the food quite tasty, although heavy. The biggest problem was that we waited an hour after we put in our order until we received the food. Granted, it was a Friday night, but they could have at least come by our table with an explanation and some naan to tied us over. The... More
