Nice Ethiopian Restaurant

Living in a rural/resort area it is always nice to go to ethnic restaurants when in the DC area. This is the best of the three Ethiopian I have eaten at in the Metro area. The environment was by far the nicest, a place you would feel comfortable bringing the family to. The menu is typical... read more

There are quite a few Ethiopian restaurants in Silver Spring, yet this is my preferred one. The quality of the food is great, the atmosphere is really nice (with traditional seating, as in Addis Ababa) and the service is very good with friendly waitresses, fast service and non-stop water refills. Plus the prices are very reasonable.

This was our first experience at an Ethiopian restaurant. It was well worth the 45 minute drive and we are now devoted fans. Chef Duggy introduced us to the wonderful world of Ethiopian cuisine. Each person in our party of four ordered something different and we all enjoyed our delightful experience. Included in our choices was the awesome Sambusa for... More

This used to be my favorite Ethiopian restaurant in the region until I discovered another that was better at handling beef dishes. But a recent visit to Addis Ababa with friends reminded me that preparing delicious vegetables is where this restaurant shines. The gomen (spinach) and tikil gomen (cabbage) were delicious, and my companions devoured the red and golden lentils... More

Took our kids (9, 13) and had a wonderful experience. The appetizer (triangular wrapped meat) is very spicy. We enjoyed a sampler platter and it was delicious. The spices weren't nearly has hot as the appetizer. Wonderful tasty spices. My kids really enjoyed no silverware. Honey wine went very well with the food. Quite a crowd for a Monday evening.... We hadn't been to Addis Ababa in a while, but we went last night with my kids who were in for thanksgiving weekend. As usual, it did not disappoint. We got a veggie assortment, chicken and veggie assortment, and a whole fried fish. All served with or over injera. Everything was delicious as usual. I love all the vegetables --... More

We came for a double date (patents night out) and had both vegetarian and meat dishes. The service was fine, atmosphere casual, but with nice African decor, & food was very tasty. Not cheap, but we all had mint.tea and ate our fill for a total less than $100 (about $25/person before tip). I hear the honey wine is good... More

This is a restaurant that is right off the street in Silver Spring. Right away you will feel like you are in Ethiopia with the low chairs and tables and ethnic music that is playing. THe food is authentic and tasty, the service is good, and the price is right. I would recommend the tray of mixed offerings for a... More
