Very good, inventive vegetarian entrees, reasonable prices

It is not easy to find a reasonably priced restaurant near Bethesda, and Yuan Fu was not only reasonable, the food was quite good and very inventive. We are not vegetarians, but our friends who live nearby are and recommended this. We went on a Saturday night around 7 pm and grabbed the last... read more

Our family has loved Yuan Fu since it opened. We used to dine there every couple of weeks. However, in the past few years, we've found ourselves going there less and less often. The menu hasn't changed in years -- maybe ever -- and although the food is good and the service exemplary, we have begun to find the unchanging... More

This is THE go-to vegan Chinese restaurant in the metropolitan DC area. The food is super-delicious, reasonably priced, and always served with a smile. We often bring our non-vegetarian friends to Yuan Fu, and they are amazed at the creative cooking that pleases meat-eaters and non-carnivores alike. Mary, the owner/hostess, is a delight - and makes every customer feel like... More

I am always on the look out for Vegan/Vegetarian food. It is nice to have no meat once in a while, less calories, and more healthy. Found this one recommended by the Washington Post from 2013. The review seems to suggest that it was impossible to tell the difference between real meat and the vegan alternatives served here. I went... More

It is not easy to find a reasonably priced restaurant near Bethesda, and Yuan Fu was not only reasonable, the food was quite good and very inventive. We have been enjoying great meals at Yuan Fu since it opened. We keep kosher (though the food is GOOD regardless) so we can eat to our hearts content here with nary a bit of pork or shellfish. The food is consistently good, service is attentive and it is a spotlessly clean restaurant. The Lunch Box special (3 items for... More

This little place is not fancy, but the food is amazing. We arrived just before 9pm and were warmly welcomed. It is clearly a family-run reataurant. Child friendly. Great moo shoo dish and tasty fried wonton appetizer. Great prices and attentive service. Very kind people.

We are long-time regulars at Yuan Fu and the quality and value have not diminished over the years. We recommend Yuan Fu to anyone looking for a great Chinese restaurant, a meat alternative restaurant, or both. The menu is available as take-out as well.

Have been here twice, and the vegan food was so good that I'll go back every single time I have lunch in the D.C. Metro Area. My favorite dish is the Kung Pao Chicken, which somehow tastes like chicken right off the grill. Also of note were the Sizzling Rice Soup, which becomes more addictive the more you eat it.... More

I have been to better Chinese vegetarian restaurants, such as Sunflowers in Vienna, VA, but Yuan Fu wasn't bad. Three of the four members of my party liked our food. The only one that didn't had ordered the duck, and the "duck" appeared to be nothing more than chunks of tofu, without any real attempt to make it look, feel,... More

We've going here for many years and we have never been disappointed. Our regular wait person has made recommendations that expanded our repertoire of food choices and she has never been wrong. I asked her what the chefs favorite dishes were and started ordering those as well. I do feel that we get special treatment as we have engaged them... More
