Local Greek Mezze with atmosphere

Cava is one of my absolute fave local restaurants with local patronage. Don't judge a book by it's cover - the exterior is not exciting as it is in a strip mall, however once you open the door you are rewarded with its hidden charm and character - exposed brick, candles and family photo decor. I have been to this restaurant several times with friends. It is always busy during lunch hour. The food is good, but expensive. The lunch special are good value (ok price and decent portion) The other dishes expensive considering the portions are pretty small. The service is usually good (efficient enough but not friendly) in my experience. I only go... More

Have been going to this Cava location since it opened. The meats they use are exceptional. My favorites are the lamb chops and the mini gyro. There is also an array of dips that are freshly made from scratch. The service is refreshingly friendly and attentive. You never have to hunt down your server or ask for anything. All of... More

I heard about this place from my friend who is engaged to one of the owners, and her parents who rave about it. My family and I went there last Saturday and boy were we positively surprised. I expected it to be good, but it wasn't just good. It was great! It far exceeded our expectations. I never expected that... More

Have been dining here for years. The food is always exceptional. The menu changes seasonally so the variety is nice. Best items: village salad is great. Haloumi cheese is simply prepared but oh so tasty. Lamb sliders are simply divine. Scallops risotto is delicious. Only downside to Cava is the noise. It would be nice to invest in noise reduction... Unless you live in the neighborhood, Cava Mezze is in an out-of -the way location in the Traville Shopping Center - essentially a strip mall adjacent to the University of Maryland Shady Grove Campus. But this is not college grub. It's a trendy and tasty mezze-style (small portions for sharing) Greek restaurant that always attracts a good crowd. Have eaten... More

The beet salad is wonderful! My friend and I both had the filet mignon with gorganzola cheese on top w/a bit of blue cheese - it melts in your mouth. Yes, it's loud but the quality of the farm-fresh food and large choice of menu tapa items makes it a meal to remember! You can drive by it easily so... More

I ate here with friends on a Friday night. The place was packed and tables were right up against each other. You would have never guessed how trendy and cute it was on the inside just by looking at the plain outside. My husband and I ordered the gyros and ate WAAAY too much pita bread. I can't deny that... My family has been here several times. It's a great place to come when we can't decide what we want. The tapas style dining allows us to choose a variety of food. We appreciate that they source some of their food from local farms. I haven't had anything I didn't like, but our favorites are the village salad, brussels sprouts,... More

This is a busy little place and for so many great reasons. But it can be really crowded and noisy so prepare yourself. It's a fun atmosphere and plenty of excitement. Not a place for a quiet meal. But if you are looking for a party, bar or delicious small plates then this is the place. Come back often to... More
