A most charming dining spot, the Old Angler's Inn has been immortalized in countless Washington D.C. novels as a romantic winter getaway, sitting before the fireplace and perusing the menu. It is equally glorious in the summer when the main action moves to the incomparable terrace.

Plenty of Hype no follow through

This place came very highly recommended. We were disappointed with the service, there were very few tables occupied but we still had to flag our waiter repeatedly to get any service at all. Strike One. The food was very disappointing, the quality of the fish was not the freshest and the oil smelled... read more

We had walked by the falls and stopped at the Inn for a late lunch. The service was great, not rushed and the crab cake was outstanding.

Popped into The Angler's for tea and the meal was amazing. We both had warm salad of scallop, mushroom and chorizo for starters and it was so good. I had the curry for main course....I had Ross spice it up a bit and it was very very tasty. The decaff latte I had after was perfect. We could not fault... More

Restaurant has some great qualities including the outdoor patio which, in the summer months makes it quite spectacular. In the winter however you must climb a small winding staircase which for women in heels is nearly impossible. Once reaching the upstairs, the food is just so so, very pricey and on our last visit was accompanied by very snooty waiters.... More

I have frequented this establishment over the years and watched it change hands on several occasions. The food has always been "average" at best, service slow and the cost per entree somewhat expensive. I have had both lunches and dinners, sat inside and out and would say to dine here if it is convenient for you, but do not expect... More

....cause the food is mediocre at best and way overpriced. But if it's a special occasion and the weather is nice, and you are not really into food anyway, then yes, it's fine!

OAI, as the sign calls it, has a lot going for it. It is near the canal with its good walks, it has a nice, old building with a fire going downstairs in the winter. We've had some good meals here, but the Sunday brunch menu didn't wow us this last visit. BTW, most of the tables are upstairs via... More

Mrs Too and Ben were out and about the other day, and getting a bit hungry. It suddenly occurred to us that we hadn’t eaten at the Old Angler’s Inn in a coon’s age, in fact since the night the whole family got together there to celebrate our “baby” son’s graduation from law school. (The ‘baby” just turned 51.) It... More

Life is about experiences. This night was more than a meal. The food, ambience, and service were some of the best we have had in a long time. Our server, Ariel? could not have been better. We even met the owner Mark at the bonfire outside the restaurant. We bought several gift cards for Christmas gifts, knowing that the recipients... More

I have been visiting the Inn for the last 10 years now, what I do love the most is the ambiance especially in winter, the fire place by the bar is really relaxing, drinks are good too. As for the food I am not that crazy about it, but one can have a good time with friends and family. In... More
