Highly recommended!

This was a lovely surprise in Oxford. The service was excellent and great attention to detail. Warm bread and lovely roast garlic clove in the herby oil dip was a good first impression! The swordfish special was excellent with asparagus that was beautifully cooked, so often it can be overcooked... read more

As always, brusque and indifferent service. Great duck, after that, disappointed. Husband made out ok. Nice oyster rockefeller soup. Ok fried oysters. Dreadful steak salad. No one cared that I did not eat my dinner. Sav Blanc ice cold for my husband. No one asked if I wanted another drink.

We stayed at the inn for our anniversary and enjoyed ourselves. The wait staff were friendly and helpful, definitely busy, but not too busy to be friendly. We met friendly people at the bar. The small dining room makes it feel cozy. We enjoyed our meal, but nothing stands out. The menu was rather limited, but with good choices. Overall,... More

I was celebrating my wife's birthday so I called and made a reservation here. The lady who answered the phone was very pleasant and said that she only had a couple of tables near the bar because all of the other tables were reserved and that they were going to be very busy. (While there I heard her say the... More

My wife and I celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary Dinner at Pope's Tavern during our first visit to the quaint town of Oxford MD. While the menu was limited due to the owner's travel, we enjoyed our meals and the were seated at the requested intimate window table on a busy Friday night. We will visit again during a future... This is nicer than a pub, but not overly formal. Just very comfortable and attractive. Good for dinner with friends, a date, or just to sit and eat in the bar. The food is always good and made from the best, fresh ingredients. The menu is short, but most items sound intriguing and those we've tried have been very good.... More

Stayed for the quaint accommodation after an intense vacation. Recharged at the Oxford Inn. The evening meal in the Pope's Tavern was outstanding - crab followed by flounder. Obviously popular with the locals.

My husband and I dined at the Pope Tavern recently. Although they were quite busy because of the sailing regatta in town, we were able to score a reservation. We arrived early and expected to wait in the small bar area; however, when I checked in for our reservation, I was told that our table was waiting if we wanted... More

Pope's Tavern is awesome. The crab cakes and succatosh were the best I've ever had and the service was very prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was great as well. It was so good I ate there two nights in a row and again for breakfast. You won't find better in Oxford or possible on the Eastern Shore! If you're ever... More

Haven't been here in a long time. Wonderful evening. We had 3 people. Many things sounded great. Ended up ordering fish tacos, mushroom raviolis, salads and a great big burger. All very good. Excellent wine selection. Only 2 beers on tap, but very good. The service was excellent. A little noisy, but on a nice night there is outdoor seating.... More
