Convivial atmosphere and good food!

Welcoming and attentive wait staff, extensive selection of wines, and handsome furnishings make this a pleasant place to spend a winter evening. This is a lively bistro with a somewhat Provencale-inspired décor. The food is well prepared if not exactly leading edge. The short ribs are a standout, and I hear that the crab cakes are also a strong dish. Overall a nice small town dining spot.

We were in Oxford for a few nights and had dinner at the Tavern. It was a pretty restaurant with good food and service. If you are in the area, it is definitely a good choice.

Food was merely ok. Likewise service. We were seated by a vent which was less than comfortable. Crabcake did not measure up to the Robert Morris Inn Restaurant. Skimpy portions.

We were staying in the B&B so decided to try the restaurant for dinner simply because it was convenient. We had a great meal, so good we want to go there again. Very fresh food, an extensive wine list, and a good variety of selections made for a special evening. The owner is a character and fun to visit with.... More

We had high expectations for Pope's Tavern. Unfortunately, the salt shaker intervened. Someone needs to take away the chef's salt shaker. The food was almost inedible. The hanger steak was overcooked and grey; the veal might have been good if it had not been too salty. Service was only fair. The server was overworked and wanted to make sure we... More

We were staying in Oxford, MD and read that the Pope's Tavern Inn was a great place to dine. We made a reservation for 7pm. You had the option of being picked up by a antique looking (1930's) car, which was a very novel attraction. We walked instead. In short, the dinner and service were excellent. I had the seared... You have to eat at Pope's Tavern while in Oxford. The food and service are great. The variety of food will satisfy everyone in your party. If you are staying locally please asked to be picked up in the English Cab!

Fabulous food, friendly wait staff, great atmosphere. The chef definitely has a handle on the use of herbs and sauces.
