We came in around 9pm on a Monday expecting to enjoy "Mexican Monday" specials of 1.25 tacos and select craft beers for 2.25 advertised on the website - clearly listed separately from "happy hour" (4-7). First, we had to wait 5 minutes to be greeted and seated, even though there was nobody in front of us. Next, we waited 10... More

After reading the rave reviews and noting that this restaurant is the #1 rated Mexican restaurant in OC and #16 out of 376 overall we were anxious to try it. I am not sure what restaurant those other people ate in, but it could not have been the same place we ate. Small place. Long wait for tables. Service just... More

We recently had dinner and were not disappointed. The food was fabulous and the service was friendly. We did have to wait 45 minutes for a table as the restaurant is small but well worth the wait.

Had the chimichanga combo platter and it was fantastic. not just plenty of food but very well prepared. Even the side dishes were great not the normal runny beans and bland rice.

This is considered a "local favorite" by residents and people in the know. And the food is good, fast and cheap. But it's not the best taco or margarita I've ever had. The service is very fast which is great, considering a small venue. Servers and bartenders are both accommodating and friendly. The happy hour offered weekly pulls in a... More

I ordered the chicken chimichanga and it was awesome! We had the homemade guac which was served in Avocado shells which were pretty cool looking (never seen that before) Def recommend this restaurant and would love to go back next trip to OC!!!

Went here with a group of 7, food was excellent. Came out pipng hot, seasoned well and they give you nice size portions. My table was quiet! I will be back.

A group of 8 of us waited about 50 minutes on a Friday night to get a table, as this small place was packed. We ordered our drinks and they didn't take long to arrive. We got two servings of chips and salsa while we waited for our meals. It took maybe 25 minutes for everyone to get their entrees.... More

First time trying Mother's Cantina. Food was good but too much to eat. Would definitely go back but not order a platter.
