Description: Red Hot and Blue is a full-service, casual-themed restaurant chain and caterer featuring delicious award-winning ribs, Memphis-style barbeque, smoked wings, and Southern sides and desserts. The atmosphere is steeped in legendary and contemporary blues music and delivers a large dose of Southern hospitality in a fun and entertaining dining environment. History: The first Red Hot and Blue restaurant opened in Arlington, Virginia in 1988, started by Lee Atwater, Don Sundquist and friends. Don Sundquist was from Memphis and served in the House of Representatives and as governor of Tennessee. The late Lee Atwater was an amateur blues musician and political figure that managed George H.W. Bush's successful race for the presidency. These men were friends who longed for authentic Memphis-style barbeque and great blues music. Unable to find that combination anywhere in the Washington, DC area they decided the only way to get it done was to open a restaurant of their own. The Memphis-style barbeque chain celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2013 by partnering with a charitable organization at 24 different restaurant locations. The yearlong celebration culminated in the presentation of thousands of dollars in donations to local charities. The Name: The name, "Red Hot and Blue" is taken from the title of D.J. Dewey Phillip's radio show that that aired on WHBQ-AM in Memphis, Tennessee in the 1950s. This radio show launched the careers of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash and broadened the audience for artists such as BB King, Muddy Waters, Robert Cray and Rufus Thomas. Red Hot & Blue Dine-In, Take-Out and Catering. Hickory-smoked Memphis-style BBQ, Ribs, Wings, Beef Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Seafood, Full-service Bar, in a Family-friendly atmosphere with a heapin' helpin' of Southern Hospitality!

We are never disappointed when we eat here. Service is always good and fast, the food is excellent, and the price is right. Take out is just as good as eat in. One favorite - the smokehouse salad - always take some home due to the serving size. Pulled pork is just right.

The restaurant is close to home and for some reason we go there more in the winter than summer. Food and service always awesome! Best ribs and pulled pork.

Red Hot Blue continues to serve the best ribs in the area. Good sides, especially the beans and slaw as well as other meats,e.g. pulled pork, brisket. Family oriented. Casual. Flexible in use of a birthday certificate from RHB Club. Long a favorite, worthy of returning. Not from I-95 so convenient to DC and Baltimore. Good, friendly service. Very reasonably priced... We frequent this place for a reason...it's good! Sweet tea, pulled chicken platter with beans and potato salad is my standard order. The onion loaf is a great starter. The staff is always friendly and attentive. We leave satisfied and always come back

There is not much for a vegetarian to choose. They do have excellent desserts. i usually eat elsewhere and then come here for their Key Lime pie.

We picked this place just by chance and I am glad we chose it. Soon as you park you know you'll be happy by the smell in the street. The decor of the restaurant was awesome and our waitress was simply outstanding. All of our food was so delicious, I'm salivating as I'm writing this review. If you're in the... More

Not to shabby for a chain. Our waiter was attentive and while it was busy, we had our food pretty quick. Dry Ribs came right off the bone. Sides were pretty good. Beer flowin'. Wesley A was our waiter. We opted for some Ribs ... a 1/2 slab can feed a small army. Order um dry rubbed and slather them... More

Red Hot & Blue has a lot of BBQ items on their menu which are excellent. I had tried their catfish sandwich and it was delicious. It reminds me of flounder. You get two thin slices of catfish that are fried, red potato salad and cole slaw. I had never tried the key lime pie until one of my friends... More

As a vegetarian I am excluded from most of the items on the menu. The food I can eat is tasty. The service is prompt and friendly. The prices are reasonable. This restaurant doesn't draw large crowds like Pasta Plus and Olive Garden. I have eaten here a couple of times a year since they opened. i always had a... More

I like this restaurant ambiance, the ribs are good and the pork sandwich is always a winner.... they have dry ribs and wet ones and both are very savory and always tender, sides are good and they have a nice selection of appetizers like hot wings, onion rings
