Weekend at UMD

Went to UMD to help cheer on our visiting student athlete. First time to area, and Franklin's came highly recommended. Microbrewery as well as restaurant serving American fare. Beer was very good and reasonably priced (average $5 per glass). Food was burgers, BBQ and "American comfort". Some family... read more

Looking at the menu there were so many good appetizers and plates that it was hard to decide what to eat but from what I could tell any choice would be a good one. The chicken and biscuits was very good as was the pear salad. The onion rings were so big you could have them as a meal. The... More

This is our go-to place, whether we want to get out on a Saturday night or whether we have visitors and want a fun, casual meal. We don't mind waiting for a table because the attached general store has so many fun, unique items that it's very easy to spend the time browsing for great gifts. They have an onsite... More

What a wonderful place to eat. Such a wide variety of food. Burgers are great. The meatloaf the friend I go to dinner with swears by. A fantastic salmon salad. I'm a big bread lover and the bread they bring to the table is amazing. There is a great general store connected to the restaurant. It has a collection of... More

Visited Franklin's on a Saturday afternoon. Service was good, attentive but not overly so. Table was very small considering that the beer sampler is served on 2 dinner plate size holders. When food arrived we played musical plates. Vulcan Mind Melt was tasty, the Thai pizza was different. Excellent flavor, just a bit too much moisture, made the bottom soggy.... More

What could be better than a kid-friendly brewery with beer and food everyone loves, an adjoining retail store with loads of food and gift items for adults and kids, and a dedicated parking lot? Our (four adults and two children: 4 months and 2 1/2 years) likes: Double IPA, Dragon Queen and Blondie beers; Grilled cheese and fries for the... More

We went last night during the Supper meal. We were early enough that we did not have to wait long (20 min). Spent the time in their interesting liquor and toy store. We had an appetizer of asparagus and beets. Interesting but the beets were pretty tasteless. meals were good and portions were large. Service was very busy and didn't... More

One of the most unique brewpubs around the area. Two floors upper floor is more a bar bottom floor is more the dining area. Not a quiet brew pub. Inexpensive Paid parking is available at the pub. The attached general store is worth visiting and has innumerable unique items to browse from beer to toys.

My husband and I always visit at least one brewery in every city we visit. I am so glad we chose to visit Franklin's on our trip to DC! The beer selection is awesome and you can't make a bad decision since they are all delicious. The food is also really yummy and well priced. Service was fast and friendly... More
