I love Busboys and Poets. It's not the same as your typical restaurant, a little different, cater to a diverse crowd, their food is local, etc. I think their food is very good, and their service is normally excellent. The servers are consistently very polite and attentive, more than I can say for the DC area, but sometimes it can... More

this large corner location on rt 1 in Hyattsville, MD is part bookstore-like and part college-pub decor.

Had dinner twice at this place and the experience was mixed, mainly due to slow and unattentive service the second time. Food is what you can expect in a fancy pub, mainstream with a twist. Not bad, but much calories. When the weather is fine, I love outside dining, but that did not work well, next to route 1.

Had dinner with a friend. We both had sandwiches, a chicken salad Sammy and a grilled chicken panini, and split the chicken tacos appetizer. Everything was served in a timely manner and quite tasty. Good meal for the price. The service was reasonable, no errors, but nothing overly or even moderately warming or welcoming. The ambiance was quote pleasant. I... More

This restaurant just has a cool atmosphere. The menu has a generous amount of vegan options which I appreciate. I had harira soup and a falafel pita. Both were good. My husband had a burger which he liked very much. They serve kettle cooked chips on the side which are made in house and I highly recommend them. Yummy! I... More

This review does not include actually food because we never got any. My niece loves this restaurant in DC so we decided to go to the one in Hyattsville as we were near by. We were seated by a snarky hostess who did promptly seat us which was the only positive thing that happened. The restaurant was busy but not... More

We dined here with our college-age son on his recommendation. We were greeted and seated promptly by the host. Walked past a 1/2 dozen bookshelves holding a variety of both fiction & non-fiction volumes (for sale). We arrived for lunch but being a holiday (Columbus Day) the cafe was offering (and recommending) their brunch menu. Server was prompt and happily... More

We now have been here many times. The service is friendly, but the restaurant can get very loud at night --almost impossible to have a conversation across the table. The food service also can be slow, particularly at peak hours when the kitchen gets overwhelmed with orders. Breakfast is OK, but not exceptional --the omelets, for example, at times resemble... The open mic poetry night at Busboys and Poets with the charismatic and good-natured E-Baby is a great evening. You can buy the $5 tix online: they're usually sold out by noon the day of the performance. The atmosphere is fun and friendly, and gets louder as the evening goes on. Poets range from the first-time mic "virgins" to the... More
