Quintessential American

Quite old fashion in a good way. They specialize in baked goods, pies, cakes and cookies; although, I've been told by locals that their not made on premises. A little pricy. The salad bar was cleaner and fresher than some. Vegetable crab soup was decent, but not great.

We stopped here last Sunday for lunch. We have eaten here often in the past, but this latest visit was a disappointment. I always eat the roast beef sandwich, and my wife had the turkey breast dinner. The roast beef was dried out; the turkey was extremely tough, so much so that it was basically inedible. We'll give them another... More

This place got a four because it's so small-town-simple fare at a low price. You can depend on getting a good BLT or club sandwich, maybe a plate of roast beef and mashed potatoes, followed by a piece of home made pie. Don't expect gourmet - just basic Americana. We've stopped here en route along I-70 and I-68 coming and... More

What used to be a regular fixture for us on our trips west, the new owners have turned into a restaurant that drives patrons to go elsewhere. They say they are open everyday for breakfast, yet they don't open until 10 am. This is hardly reasonable if the expect to stay in business for very long.

We ate at Weaver's twice this past March - breakfast one day and lunch another day. I'd call it 'Traditional Americana Cuisine' -- with good eats and a guaranteed full belly, good prices, great service, and all with a view of the North Branch of the Potomac River flowing past the big windows in the main dining room. You might... More

This is our second stop at Weavers, Hancock being a convenient waypoint between family visits. Both times, the server was friendly and attentive, the food was fresh and tasty. (We favor soup-and-salad type entrees.) We bought pie to go for our next family stop. Yum! Definitely would recommend.

We discovered Weavers and Hancock quite by accident nearly 10 years ago when our previous "traditional" stop near Cumberland went out of business. It has now become our "must visit" on any trip to the DC/Baltimore area. Although we don't always eat the food there, which is quite good, we stop for cookies, breads, or pies, and those seldom make... More

Situated between exit 3 and 4 of I 70, this is a convenient lunch stop.We had a great vegetable crab soup and half sandwich for $5.99. The soup came in a small bowl and was excellent The sandwich was made with fresh bread and fresh, tasty filling. We also had the soup and salad special. It came with the same... More

My wife and I discovered Weaver's by chance a few years ago, and it's now a "must stop" on our yearly trip in November through PA and MD on our way back to WV and OH. It was on Sunday the week before Thanksgiving, so I had the turkey dinner and my wife had fish. Both meals were great with... More

Weaver's Restaurant and Bakery has been in business as long as I can remember ~ many moons! Hancock is a strange little town, but Weaver's is a bright spot in this otherwise miserable place. Weaver's are famous, far and wide, for their freshly baked pastries and particularly for their DELICIOUS and old time favorite: raisin-filled cookies ~ just like great... More
