Good Bavarian Food

Although the price is on the high side, the food and service are very good. I will definitely go back.

If it's atmosphere you're looking for, this place gets a passing grade (though The Bavarian Inn is a better choice); the food is overpriced and not good (nicht gut). Take a short drive to the above mentioned restaurant if you're looking for good atmosphere and German-style food. The folks at the Stube have a real attitude that is included in... More

We ate here for Sunday lunch, which is the dinner menu. It is pricey, but the food is good and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. I had the Chicken with Vermouth and my husband had a Pork Chop. Both were served hot and tasted excellent.

Having lived in Germany for six years, I think this is this most authentic German restaurant I gave been in in America. The portions are as large as I remember from Bavaria as are the seasoning and presentation. Service is top notch. Beers are all true Deutsch!

I had the Schnitzel “Wiener Art” from their lunch menu ($10). Lightly breaded pork, served w/ hunterstyle sauce on the side, carrots & your choice of spaetzel, pommes frites or potato salad. All of the German/Bavarian dishes included their native names as well as English equivalents. The portions were perfect for lunch, the Schnitzel was crispy, juicy inside and so... More

From the Norwegian smoked salmon with dill appetizer to the bratwurst and sauerkraut entree and apple strudel desert, this was an authentic German cuisine experience. The owner personally visited our table to be sure we were satisfied with the food. Every bite of this completely made on site meal was superb. You won't be disappointed. We drove 3 hours in... More

I was expecting a lot more out of this restaurant considering the good rating it has on this site. I was sorely disappointed. My family and I went there for lunch. We ordered 3 Reubens and a turkey, bacon, Swiss sandwich. For $10 each, I figured the restaurant wouldn't skimp on the sandwich. These sandwiches had less meat on them... More

Wanted to go elsewhere but couldn't get a table. Took group of 12 here and had an exquisite meal. Fine dining and attentive servers in traditional German dresses.

I've given this restaurant three different chances, I've been back three different times and have tried something different all three times and have been disappointed. It definitely has the feel of being in Bavaria, but beware the food quality stinks. I tried the Allgäuer Käsespätzle (at the steep price of $18) the presentation was awful, on top there were burnt... We were on route from Allentown, PA to Richmond, VA and wanted to stop for dinner somewhere other than the typical fast food on Route 81, so with a little help from TripAdvisor we decided to make a short detour and try something different. This is in the center of Hagerstown, 5 mins from the highway, and obviously a popular... More
