J.A. Belt building is considered the oldest commercial property in Gaithersburg. The building has recently undergone a complete historic restoration and is listed on the National Historic Registry. The marriage of the old and new in this historic building creates a unique environment well suited for the reproduction of our turn of the century tavern. Hand-crafted beers and an excellent American menu keeps them coming back!

We go here about once per month for trivia and I've noticed a decline over the last year or so. Positives: The food is good to very good depending on what you order, and that has held up. Alison the bartender is great. Negatives: I think the beer has slipped a little. I'm an IPA drinker, and I don't particularly... More

Went here after dogfish had over 1 hour wait. Pretty good compared to it. We had loaded tots appetizer and pretzels both good. Burger and their Reuben version very good and beer is good too. Affordable and service was fine for decent gastropub. Will be back.

Growlers is a Gaithersburg institution featuring micro beer and American fare. The bar is a hangout for locals. It's necessary to enter via the bar so Saturday night crowds make the place less family friendly for me anyways. The burger and beer we had were very gooD and service was also good. For a sample of olde Townes Gaithersburg, this... More

My family and friends have been visiting this place for years. We like their hamburger specials and a drink at the bar. The Menu is not very exciting but it tries to be different. Stick with the old favorites and you'll do fine. Their burgers, calamari, cobb salad are all good bets. The potato chips as nocho's not so much.... More

Very yummy! I had the herbed chicken which was good, moist and flavorful. My husband had the burger. He said it was very good. Service was excellent.

Solid dining at an affordable price point. Interesting selection of sandwiches and good fries. Charming old style historical building renovated into a brew pub.

the food was great, the atmosphere was good. It is a nice local place with good beer. The server was a little spaced out but he was friendly and did bring us everything that we asked for even if he took his time about it.

Yes, even better than the top-tier place nearby with the shark as the logo. Growlers is far better for sampling what craft beer is doing these days -- and not just extra-hoppy brews. Service is quick and friendly, eats are wide-ranging and tasty, and the brews are top-flight. I've visited many times over the years, with friends, family, and as... More

Lunch for 2 mid-week. 2 overcooked, tasteless burgers, re-fried french fries (they were like Styrofoam) and 2 sodas came to nearly $40 with tip. I think that is very high for a bar in that location. It's not in the city nor in a hot area of metro DC. Newish bar in a building that has seen many of the... More
