J.A. Belt building is considered the oldest commercial property in Gaithersburg. The building has recently undergone a complete historic restoration and is listed on the National Historic Registry. The marriage of the old and new in this historic building creates a unique environment well suited for the reproduction of our turn of the century tavern. Hand-crafted beers and an excellent American menu keeps them coming back!

good pub food, well priced, nice atmosphere

the food was great, the atmosphere was good. It is a nice local place with good beer. The server was a little spaced out but he was friendly and did bring us everything that we asked for even if he took his time about it.

Yes, even better than the top-tier place nearby with the shark as the logo. Growlers is far better for sampling what craft beer is doing these days -- and not just extra-hoppy brews. Service is quick and friendly, eats are wide-ranging and tasty, and the brews are top-flight. I've visited many times over the years, with friends, family, and as... More

Lunch for 2 mid-week. 2 overcooked, tasteless burgers, re-fried french fries (they were like Styrofoam) and 2 sodas came to nearly $40 with tip. I think that is very high for a bar in that location. It's not in the city nor in a hot area of metro DC. Newish bar in a building that has seen many of the... More

A diamond in the rough. I drove by this place for months and never really noticed but met some friends there one evening and enjoyed it. The bar staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about mixing cocktails. The food was a little to greasy for me but not bad. Looking forward to going in the warmer months to sit upstairs.

I have been frequenting Growler's since it first opened. I have never had a bad visit! Service is always excellent. I love the history of the place and the interesting layout of the building. I live for Growler's fries. I don't even like fries, but I'd kill for Growler's fries. Golden, crispy outside, hot inside, perfect, wow. I could eat... More

Ok, I guess I'm a little behind the times but poor Growler's has been beset by emergency closings in the past few years and I'm never sure whether to come by! We ate here as a family on a recent Saturday night, after stopping at the "other" brewpub in Gaithersburg, which had a 45-50 minute wait! We got right in... More

If you're like us, you probably just walked about twenty miles around DC on vacation and made it back to the hotel in Gaithersburg at 11pm without anything in your stomach. This is a great place to stop in for a late night bite. The pepperoni bread was overcooked and dry but my fish and chips were quite good. My... More

I just paid 27.50$ for a refill of my growler. Liquid Gold? Don't think so. These guys have got to get it together. Will not be going back. And I'm a local.

Was just at Growler's for the 5th or 6th time, and have not had a bad meal there. Always several unusual entrees along with great burgers and other standard fare. They closed for remodeling after a kitchen fire last year and Gaithersburg almost shut down. They always have 5 or 6 of their own brews with a detailed explanation of... More

This restaurant is also a home brewery. They cater to parties of all sizes. Upstairs is more of a sports bar while the first level caters to family or office type gatherings. They are, if not the only establishment in Old Town Gaithersburg that stays open until 1 am where the revelers upstairs party to a late night game.
