On a recent Saturday evening, I was part of a party of six - all first-time customers - at Vasili's. The restaurant, which was recommended by a friend, is located on a lovely, leafy street in the Kentlands neighborhood, and by all appearances is very popular. Nevertheless, I found the food disappointing: the entrees were bland and flavorless, the small... More

We showed up as a celebratory party of 10 from three countries, on recommendation of a local person. She was spot on. Food is not only expertly prepared on premises from fresh ingredients, but with meticulous concern to serve to customer's specifications, for example a fresh pot of coffee brewed for one diner. People made a wide range of selections... More

Was taken here for lunch and was so appalled at the prices. Glad i didn't have to pay for it, but it cost over $35.00 for 2 for lunch not including tip. BUT the food was mediocre. Didn't stand out. Have not idea what made chicken and pasta so expensive?? TOO many good places to eat to pay these prices.............

For many years I routinely order the same dish because it's so good. This time I was very hungry so I decided to order something different. I ordered the Village Salad (Tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, olives, green peppers, feta, drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette) and added grilled shrimp. This is my new favorite, among many, by the way. My wife order... More

Great Gyros, great apps...family run. A nice gem in Kentlands. I recommend this place highly! Outside seating works well. The calamari is great. Save room for rice pudding!

My wife and I recently tried this restaurant pursuant to an Amazon Local Deal. The fact that we got a $20 voucher for $10 helped ameliorate the pricing. Pricing is the larger part of my discontent with this restaurant. The food was not memorable. My wife had a special of the day: stuffed tomato. She commented that it had too... More

We regularly take out food from this usually great Greek restaurant named for one of its owners--nice people. The problem is that the last two times, the food has been far less than what it used to be and has not been up to quality. The beef kabobs were way overcooked, small, and tough. For the same reason, we had... More

Having just returned from a two and a half weeks road trip through Greece I can honestly tell that this restaurant is no more authentically Greek than "Olive Garden" is authentically Italian. Is that a bad thing?! Not necessarily, however, things that I did like on my road trip I did not enjoy here. So, let's dispense with the bad... More

For lunch I had the lamb souvlaki platter. It came with a salad that was very fresh and not overly dressed. The lamb was nicely grilled and so was the pita bread. The tzatziki was very good. The service was quite good and the place was well decorated. On a very cold day they also had a extra heater by... More

Vasilis continues to astound with its superlative lamb dishes like the lamb chops and kabobs that are so fresh, meaty, and cooked to a perfect doneness. The side dishes of Greek style green beans are always sauced just right with tomato and herbs. Oven roasted potatoes are prepared "just right!!!!!" and never under or overcooked. Pastichio, layered pasta and ground... More
