Splurge!

This was my first time trying goodies from this chocolatier. This was better than Godiva and the staff were very friendly.

You can take a free factory tour that lasts for 10 minutes, but there are no free samples. The chocolates are very expensive (minimum of $2 per candy) and do not taste all that good. I would buy Sees chocolates any day over these.

This place is a gem. They have been in gaithersburg for years, and they make all the chocolate in house. In their chocolate factory. Downstairs from the shop! Interesting flavors like passion fruit, olive oil Rosemary, and banana caramel truffles compliment the typical standbys of chocolate, strawberry, and mocha. If you are in the Kentlands and looking for something different... More

I went with a group of friends to check out this local chocolate shop. Our tour was met with a friendly young man and he filled us with so much education about the entire process from them owning their own farms in the Dominican to paying better than living wages to their staff. Their farms are also filled with foods... More

Went to the one in national harbor. Was staying at the Weston and attending a conference at the Gaylord. I had to walk by it every day so I went everyday in January. The guy that worked there was very knowledgeable about the products, ingredients and helpful with suggestions. Had a fall crisp flavor which was pumpkin, graham cracker and... More

SpagnVola brings artisan chocolate to Gaithersburg. The chocolate, which is made in the on-site basement kitchen is from cacao that originates in the Dominican Republic. The truffles & bonbons are extraordinary. Gelato is also available in many tempting flavors, also very good. You can order coffee from the espresso bar and relax in the Dominican themed cafe.

This place is pretentious and ostentatious. Save your money and go to Starbucks for an honest and flavorful cappuccino. Management had taught the barista how to make little designs on the floating coffee foam. Sweet, cute, but not good enough. However, the coffee was very definitely not hot enough. I had a gelato, which was way too frozen cold. Ok,... More

I actually went to their location a few doors down from the Westin National Harbor hotel. I was greeted immediately entering the shop. They had several favors of gelato but it was a little chilly that day so I opted for the chai tea latte that was the best I've had in a while. I also tried the pistachio bonbon,... More

My husband and I signed up on line for the factory tour given on weekends. During the 30 minute tour we learned a great deal about the history of chocolate and saw the manufacturing process and creation of the truffles and bonbons. The chocolates are expensive but wonderful. Coffee, chocolates, desserts and gelato are served in their cozy retail area.

A great story; a great family; exquisite artisan chocolates that are definitely made with love. These are single origin chocolates--using beans carefully cultivated from their family farm in the Dominican Republic. These hand-crafted gems aren't cheap--authentic single origin chocolates never are, but are worth every penny. Lots of subtle flavors; or just the basics if you prefer. My favorite is... More
