This is a large, cheerily decorated restaurant in a shopping district. It has the feel of a chain. Food is OK but quite Americanized. There are better choices

Nice casual Mexican restaurant. Chips were warm and crispy, although the salsa was bland. Fajitas, which are their specialty, were very good, properly cooked and seasoned. Full bar available although I was disappointed in a lack of variety of beer. Price was reasonable, and service was very good. In all, a good, casual, and reasonably quick dinner.

The food is good, but not that special. There are limited choices and although authentic all are unhealthy choices. When I was there we had to wait too long to be seated, and given the average quality of food and service there are just much better options nearby. The guacamole I had with my meal did not seem fresh. And... More

There are some little things that restaurants can do to make the experience better. One of the most important things is to make everything in house. I really appreciated that Uncle Julio's makes their tortilla shells by hand in a wood oven, roasts the tomatoes for their salsa, and makes guacamole table-side. They're simple things, but they make a huge... More

My son wanted to eat here before he returns to college. The restaurant was crowded and we had to wait for a table. Once we were seated, our orders were placed. The waitress was pleasant. The food was very tasty. They give you hearty portions. The restaurant noise level was high that day. The restaurant is located by the water.

3 of us had dinner here last week on a Thursday night and the place was packed - thought that may be a good sign, and it was. We walked in and it felt like we were in a restaurant in Mexico due to the decor, very neat. We were seated immediately and given nachos and a cheese sauce which... More

Every restaurant in Rio is crowded at dinner time. On Friday and Saturday evening, you'll have to wait a long time for a table. Uncle Julio's serves all fresh Mexican food made from scratch, according to our waiter. The price ($17 - $30 per entree) is expensive but the food is high quality. My grilled chicken with guacamole was excellent.... More

I went to Uncle Julio's with some of my coworkers. Had never been there before. Ordered nachos. I was sad to see my plate when it came. there were 5 round chips each had a thin layer of refried bean and then thin layer of cheese. On top of that they had placed 5 small slices of chicken. on the... More

Visited this location about a year ago and the menu and food quality has gotten better. Only problem is when its busy the wait is long and very crowded in the bar. Nice Tex-Mex option
