I am from Boston and in the north end we always had Ragina's. I will tell you Fortunato/ Sals is just as good if not better. I highly recommend this place.

They claim to be Italian, but there were no Italians to be found. Ordered and paid for food, but they brought only one dish, conveniently forgot about the second. My partner received a meatball soup when he ordered minestrone. Definitely avoid if you are gluten intolerant; they have gluten in every single dish (except salads). Loud swearing behind the counter... More

We have been trying Italian cold cut subs from a variety of local restaurants and sub shops to determine which one we liked best. Each shop is different regarding the rolls, fillings and additives that are used. Some have too little meat, others too many additives, and even some with too much meat. We enjoyed the sub from Fortunato Brothers... More

Visiting my brother in Abingdon always involves a crab cake outing for us New Englanders. This time he took us to Sal's and it was even better than the rest. The staff recognized my brother's family immediately and served us an extra helping of garlic bread. We also had fried squid and a capresse salad for starters. Excellent olive oil.... More

I hate to write negative reviews, especially of small owner-operated restaurants, but Fortunato's will be an exception. Our party of four, two adults, two teenage girls, picked F based on proximity to our hotel (Hampton Inn) and their TA ranking, for an early supper. The atmosphere was fine - it's a pizza place, order at the counter, they bring it... More
