Schweinshaxe Anyone?

I have been craving pork shank since we returned from the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Well, we decided to venture off the usual path and stumbled into Old Stein Inn in Edgewater, MD. Don't understand how my foodie husband hadn't found this yet. The atmosphere was good, the food was excellent and... read more

Amazing food. The place opens at 4 p.m. and I was in Edgewater so I thought we'd get an early dinner. Good thing I made it early - the place fills up quickly and accommodates large parties and all ages. It is a relaxed atmosphere and a place I will be returning to any time I get a hankering for... We live about 30 minutes from the restaurant so always call for a reservation before going. We visited on Friday 2/6/15 and they were featuring Winter Wild Game. They only had a reservation for 2 at 7:45, so I specifically asked if the wild game, would still be available. I was told," oh yes, it is our first night and... More

Excellent food. Excellent service. Great beers. Nice people. A bit pricey. They handled our party of 15 without missing a beat.

Reputed to be the best authentic German restaurant in the area, my expectations were high. The decor is authentic, and the list of German beeers and wines were great. As I turned my attention to the menu, I was pleased to see sauerbraten shortribs, red cabbage and spaetzle. But the excitement ended there. I missed the tangy sweet and sour... More

Old Stein Inn is awesome. When it burned down a few years ago, we thought all was lost, but they rebuilt it now even better. Food is great, service is awesome. As close to authentic German as it gets.

We went there to celebrate my wife's birthday. There were seven of us. We all enjoyed our dishes with the exception of the almond cake. The pretzel was so good, we had to order another. We got one bowl of the cheese and crab soup and were sorry we didn't have another. The cheese spatzle was good enough for a... More

Went to Old Stein Inn on my Son's recommendation. We made a reservation for 7PM. After checking in we went to the bar to enjoy a beverage. Great beer selection and super cold coming of the draft. Long story short we didn't get seated until 7:45. Another long wait for the server to show up. Ordered the onion rings to... More

WE have dined here many times in the last 10 years and always enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately our last visit was a let down. The flavor of the red cabbage was off and the usually delicious crab and cheese soup was just warm, still tasty, but is better hot. We had the Beer Flights and onion rings to add to... More
