Beware of the crab cakes

The restaurant is a clean, well-lit place that sort of reminds one of those places where everybody knows your name. My husband and I were recently on a Monday night. There were a few tables filled with families and friends. There were numerous playing TV's in the room. I'm not sure who was... read more

We stopped at Geatz's at the recommendation of our innkeeper, just around the corner from the Cumberland Inn and Spa. It is a nice space inside with a large bar, tables and TV's. The chalkboard showed specials including crab soup and crabcakes. Sounded good so we tried both. The soup was excellent and the crab cakes were very good. They... More

My wife and I are here for dinner. We were seated right away and the waitress was very friendly. We ordered the crab fries for an appetizer and both got a turkey Reuben. The crab dip on the fries wasn't very good. The Reuben was very dull and yummy. So if you go stay away from the crab dip. I... More

I am not a foodie by any means. I actually do prison ministry, so I have eaten prison food more than once, but this place was absolutely horrible. The meal was so bad I could not even eat it. Also, I was charged about $7.00 more than the menu stated for my soup and sandwich.

My reaction to this location is how unfriendly the head owner is Mr Geatz. The prices are insane. How does a place stay in business since taking over from his late parents if the owner can't be nice and say hello. The best thing was the food but that was it.

I rated this place in the past, expressing that if you are of color or different from these people here in this town, please run from this place. I visited this place last year and as I entered this restaurant, I was never acknowledged, ignored, given dirty looks. I waited for a few minutes to receive service, the girl behind... More

A disappointing visit. The french fires were the best part of our meals when my wife and i visited for lunch. She ordered the Philly cheese steak sandwich which as average at best. The sandwich just seemed to be quickly thrown together and tossed in the the oven to melt the cheese. I ordered cream of crab soup which tasted... More

Geatz'z food was OK but not something to rave about. We went here looking for a "local" experience and it did seem as if many diners were Cumberlanders and I suppose we just got what Cumberlanders want when they go out ... regular quality crab cake and heavily battered fried oysters. Service was good and they had a few football... More

I usually don't put much stock in small-town family-owned restaurants because they have a limited incentive to innovate, and keep serving the same, cheese-, sauce- or grease-drenched meals year in and year out. But I did have a terrific meal at Geatz's. The beer was good, the food was good, and the atmosphere (the redeeming quality of a small-town restaurant)... More

The French fries are good. The onion soup okay. The waitress was decent. The bar is lacking Vodka. The salad is fine if you like iceberg lettuce. The seafood salad had 2 shrimp in it. Good thing it was fairly cheap.
