Friend's 40th Wedding Anniversary

A lovely and relaxing atmosphere for a special occasion. They even host weddings. Six of us gathered to celebrate a wedding anniversary and were seated in the sunroom overlooking the lawn. You can order a la carte or from the Prix Fixe menu ($32) which offered multiple selections for appetizer... read more

We have been here on occasion. The wait staff is excellent and it is a nice location. The food is nothing to write home about though. My options are limited because of some of my food allergies, but still with the options I have I think the food could be better.

We have heard many good things about Kings Contrivance over the years so we finally went for our anniversary. The food was well prepared but the menu was unimaginative and uninspiring. The service was good but not outstanding. For the price, I think there are better choices to celebrate a special occasion.

King's Contrivance is an elegant place for celebrating or just having a quiet dinner. We last visited for a birthday celebration. They seated us on the sun porch, it was very pleasant. All the food ordered at our table was excellent.

More than just a visit to a restaurant, this business dinner meeting is an experience which begins with a pleasant greeting in the foyer of this elegant mansion ands with a wide variety of unique desserts. I ordered the Maryland crab soup with chunks of floating crabmeat within a zesty vegetable broth. This is a frequent choice of mine at... More

It's true about unfriendly asmosphere. It starts from the entrance. Everybody seems Unhappy to be working.it's had to be happy to be there. The food was average. The filet was tender but lacked flavor,we've had better. Our soup was very good. And the truffle dessert was good, not too sweet. It is over priced for what you get, therefore there are other places where... More

Set in an old Columbia mansion, there are several tables in each room, keeping the decibels down to a reasonable level. Every dish I and my friends have eaten here has been outstanding. The waitstaff is excellent. The cuisine is American. If you order a prefix 3-course meal you will save quite a bit. They prepare salmon in several unusual... More

This restaurant is quaint but slightly faded. The food is good and was especially so on our last visit. shrimp over risotto,delicious..Over the years we have dined here often and the quality of the meals had slipped. They now have a very competent chef in the kitchen and truly fine dining has returned.

Service is relatively slow. Food is just average. Atmosphere is just ok. There are better establishments in the area.
