Very good dinner

We eat often at an Afghan restaurant in our hometown, so we were interested in trying Maiwand Kabob when we visited our daughter in Columbia. Maiwand has a slightly different spice profile from our Helmand province restaurat which we especially noticed in the sabzi (spinach ). Some dishes such... read more

Two choices for meat - Do Piaza was not very well flavored (lamb stew) with more onions and less meat and the chicken tikka - well there was none! Had to ask the staff to bring out more for the buffet (still 1.5 hours left for the buffet). Lots of starch readily available (rice, bread, potato) - dessert only had... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant in the middle of a shopping center. A little hard to find but worth the search. For starters we ordered the hummus appetizer and knew that we were in for a great meal. My wife ordered the steak kabob and I had the lamb kabob platter. Both came with a basket of pitas, rice and... We went to the Maiwand Kabob in Columbia for lunch and made the mistake of ordering the Gyro instead of kabobs. We didn't care for it. Meat was overdone and the sauce was lacking. The pumpkin appetizer was recommended by a friend and was quite good though. We may return and try the kabobs perhaps we chose the wrong dish.

We are from out of town and visit Columbia, Maryland every couple of months. The first thing we do as we are driving in from the airport is order takeout for our group of nine from Maiwand Kabob! Usually it is the same thing....chicken and lamb kebobs, chicken and kafta kabobs, veggie plates, chicken gyros, extra sides of pumpkin, eggplant... More

The gyros are even better now that they've installed a fryer at this location. Everything is as good as it's ever been at this Columbia location. Service, food, and location are all tended as well as they have been for years. Bravo!

I used to eat at this place all of the time because I worked nearby and the food was delicious. That was until I found a cockroach in my pumpkin one time.. Never again will I eat here.... It's one thing to need an exterminator but to serve it to a customer without noticing is horrible.

We tried the Maiwand Kabob in Columbia Crossing and we enjoyed it. This is a sit-down, table service place. I had chicken kabobs and my husband had lamb and potato curry. The entrees were accompanied by generous servings of rice, vegetables, and naan. The restaurant is very attractive with an indoor waterfall. The service was good.

Food ia great but service is always terrible. 35mins for food and 15 min just to get water. Servers need to go through training this is always the same

This is local favorite Maiwand Kabob's first table-service location, it's an attractive space that belies its strip-mall location. There's a couple of semi-private booths for larger groups, also. I've usually done carryout from the original Harper's Choice location, but came here for a minor occasion recently. Attentive service, very good food. Some of the sides are a little different than...
