Great place to eat and socialise.

Four of us decided to go there to have a meal and none of us were disappointed. We all found something tasty to eat. The carnivore, the fish lover and the two vegetarians. The service and atmosphere were excellent. I really like the decor and the arrangement of tables and chairs. The little... read more

We enjoyed the experience of Lunching in an wood-beamed, blazing fired, dog friendly, archetypal English Country Pub by the River. To cap it all a medium priced lunch was top-priced quality, served by polite, enthusiastic, and friendly staff. What more could we have asked for? Thank you the George and Dragon, we'll be back!

We really enjoyed our visit to the George and Dragon last night. The place was not busy so we easily found somewhere to sit with our springer spaniel. Really cosy fire going (could have done with an extra log. Minor point) Several options of menu. Light bites to Al a carte. All looked very tasty. My baked Camonbert and partners... More

we were extremely disappointed with both the service and the food not up to reasonable expectation. We had pre-booked, selected and paid for our Christmas day Menu for 14 Adults a Month in advance, Seating was cramped, kept waiting 1hr 15 mins for our starter which in my case was a prawn cocktail consisting of one prawn, yes I repeat... My sister in law booked a family Birthday meal for 19 of us, table was made for 15. My sister has a disabled child and couldn't park her car in the disabled car park due to a member of staffs car being there. Staff not welcoming, the menu which we pre ordered off was wrong. Two people ordered pork! When... More

Finishing work at 7pm on Christmas Eve lead us to seek dinner out. Accompanied by our pooch, her dog bed and with a friend we took a stroll down to the George and Dragon. We walked into a packed pub with a buzzing atmosphere. With no table in sight we thought we'd go to the pub down the road, this... More

If you enjoy paying a fortune and waiting an age for your Christmas dinner, the the G&D is the place for you. If you like having to order your food in advance and still have it taking literally hours without explanation, having to go looking for cranberry sauce, asking for a knife for the cheeseboard and spoons for the coffees... We ate in the bar of this friendly atmospheric pub. We've eaten here on many occasions and have always been pleased. This time there was something missing from the overall experience and it appeared to be communication. There were 8 of us in our group. On arrival we were quickly taken to our table. However we waited a considerable time... More

Visited George and Dragon after a long time away. The beer was poorly kept and more expensive than other pubs in the vicinity. The bottled water was almost £2-50 for a small bottle. The formerly very friendly and atmospheric pub has changed. This time there was no atmophere,The staff far more somber making our drink today a non event.
