Nice Pub

This pub always has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. We had booked a table and were shown straight to it. I do find the menu a bit boring and wish they would change it, but that's probably because we have been here quite a few times. The menu is expensive but I had the steak... read more

Visit this pub now and again, normally after going for a walk nearby. It's always rather busy when we do go which is a good sign. As mentioned in other reviews, there are log fires and the pub itself is dog friendly. They have a wide selection of ales, and the same goes for their food menu. We visited here... More

This pub has the most friendly staff, the atmosphere is quentisentual English, lovely log fires and warming soup, the food is delicious, yes I will admit the food is on the expensive side but as they say you get what you pay for, the Chief is brilliant. Dogs are welcome and there are brilliant long walks around, beautiful area so... More

I came here with my brother and his friend We ate in the bar area but you can also eat in the restaurant part. I had the Seabass and thought it was good value and a very nice dish. If i was being picky it could have done with a few more potato's and Samphire. There was a good portion... More

Went here for dinner as a group of 4, service was great & can't fault it, the food was also delicious but just so overpriced for what it is which is a real shame. You can get the same food cheaper in Canterbury city centre or out in the countryside. I would go there again but only if the prices... More

Used to eat here regularly before moving and glad to see its still got its charm. Menu looked nice and food coming out looked impressive. Nice log fire and selection of local ales including their own brew. Well priced too. Will be back to try menu soon on this showing.

Stumbled upon one of Kent's hidden gems! I have lived in the Canterbury area for a few years now and never knew this place existed!!! Just what we needed for a cold Tuesday lunch time. Warm fires and friendly staff with a delicious looking menu. We had the homemade burger which was so tasty and the seabass which my colleague... More

Came here for lunch today with my mum, after being treated terribly by a member of staff at the Fordwich arms. It was a breath of fresh air! The pub is very taste fully decorated and warm, and cosy with the log fire. The staff here are well mannered, welcoming, and pleasant to be around. The atmosphere was very friendly... More

Went for family lunch on Xmas Day. Welcome and service were excellent but food not as good as expected. The portions were small, and although tasty the roast beef only came with a few potatoes, two tiny carrots and one small piece of parsnip. When asked for extra veg I was bought a small dish of mixed vegetables, but it... More
