I think what saved my review was the staff. The place was a bustle when we arrived and the hostess apologized for being short on servers that night. We never felt the lack. All were attentive and helpful. We didn't know before hand that it was a vegie/vegan establishment. I was dubious upon learning, despite being a vegetarians ourselves. We... More

Great flavorful food, vibrant atmosphere, engaging staff. Terrific experience worth the drive again and again. Please open a second place in the Kentlands.

To be honest, we had a poor service experience at Great Sage awhile back. And the food we ordered at that time was disappointing. We decided to give it another try, though, because we were in the mood for vegetarian and my wife needs to be gluten-free, which they are good at. This time, our soup and other food were... More

I enjoyed my first time at this lovely restaurant so much, that I even bought another "chicken" (vegan) Pot Pie to have the next day for dinner. Everything single thing was just the best - can't wait to go back.

So nice to find a very nice vegan restaurant! Our food was great. Even though we all came from about an hour or so away, we really enjoyed our visit and our food! The service was good and I'd highly recommend going. The famous dip (spinach or artichoke?) was amazing with the lightly toasted bruschetta-like bread. The banana walnut smoothy... More

I've eaten at Great Sage for many years, and some years it is better than others. This is the time to go! The menu has changed, they offer some wonderful surprises. Last night, I had the pumpkin burger, which was amazing! It was served with some roasted sweet potatoes, that were delicious. I shared a Lava Cake with 3 people,... More

Let's get the obvious out of the way first, Vegan, Organic, Gluten Free, Locally Grown - whatever your allergy, health consciousness or inner hippie demands, Great Sage has got you covered. That said, I fit into none of the above categories and I LOVE this restaurant. The food is just THAT good - from appetizers through main course and dessert.... More

Great Sage is all vegan, with a changing menu which emphasizes fresh, local and organic foods. I usually am too full to get dessert (also vegan), but you can get the same types of desserts next door at the Roots natural food supermarket. You can get a vegan caesar salad, which is hard to find vegan. The smoothies are very... More

My wife and I often have Saturday lunch here while doing our grocery shopping (Roots is next door - a great food source). We are not Vegan nor Vegetarian, but enjoy their ability to put together very tasty dishes. I am hooked on their "Rubin" sandwich, which uses tempeh in place of the pastrami. I am not a big fan... So the DCfoodie's kids are also foodies but can be a tad picky when it comes to vegan food. Since I was visiting in Columbia an exit away, I figured I would give this place a try. The kids (and the parents) loved it! We started with their artichoke dip--just as savory as the real deal, but lighter (dish scraped... More
