We were a party of 7 and none had a bad experience. I highly recomend the Portuguese menue. I chose the codfish which was one of the best I ever had including during my stay of eighteen years in Portugal. If you do not like codfish do not blame the fish but the cook. But at Tavira the cook was... More

This was our first time dining at Tavira and we would definitely go back. The location is easy to get too, just a few minutes from the beltway with very convenient garage parking. The restaurant is clean and inviting. Even though it is in the basement of an office building, it did not feel "basementy." We were promptly attended to... More

Very good. Relatively quaint. In the basement if an office complex. Food was good. Service good. Lots of (maybe too much) cod on the menu?

May 2013 This is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is predictably good, the service is excellent - we have always been pleased with the service staff (especially a new waiter, Albero, who was trained by the manager and promoted to waiter from busboy), and it is a good price performer. It impressed me that the manager is tuned... More

We were looking for a quiet restaurant for a family dinner with a hearing impaired family member and saw recommendations for Tavira. Yes, it is relatively quiet for dinner, especially at an early hour. But it was disappointing in other ways. It's in the basement of an office building, and despite the Portuguese paintings on the wall, it does have... More

Went there because I had a Groupon for lunch. Turns out there were items on the menu that are not eligible for Groupon use. Waiter was totally inadequate. Couldn't explain items on the menu when asked.nNo other wait staff was there in the restaurant; he seemed to be all alone. Don't buy the Groupon for this restaurant expecting to use... More

Tavira is underneath a large office building and a little difficult to find as you always expect to enter through a lobby. However, the entrance to this restaurant is through the parking garage. Once inside, you are transported to a village in Portugal, nicely decorated, not overdone or kitsy. The food is always unusual and absolutely delicious. We discovered this... More

Friends have always liked this place and so I have eaten here with them for a number of years. No more. While you may have some success with the fresh fish dishes, anything like duck which has been precooked is awful. I like duck - this had to be at least two-three days old and warmed up in a microwave.... More

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Had to wait for someone to show up to seat me. Poor seating facing a wall - nothing to look at except wall mural. Too long a wait for check presentation and return for credit card signature. Sloppy boxing of leftovers - dumped in the container - more care needed so later opening of box was not so unappetizing. Would... More
