Description: The opening of Clyde's of Chevy Chase in 1995 brought more than just a fine dining experience to this growing Washington location. Situated in the heart of a prominent shopping district, this fascinating site celebrates the golden age of travel with steamships, planes and the Orient Express inside the two-level, 500 seat restaurant. Flavorful, fresh ingredients are used to prepare American style cuisine in the Travel Rooms on the main level, or in the casual atmosphere of the downstairs Race Bar and Dining Room.

Clyde's of Chevy Chase is one location of a small DC chain of upscale restaurants that have a mostly traditional American menu. It is an attractive place with scads of warm wood and travel-themed paraphernalia amongst the mostly comfortable booths. We ordered a variety of dishes on a Friday night: bacon cheeseburger, chicken liver pate, a bowl of chili, shaved... More

Just a good place to relax with friends and enjoy a leisurely Sunday brunch before a Redskins game. Standard American fare, well prepared, and good service. Easy access to Metro station.

We have been going to Clyde's for years and we love all of their locations and always have a good experience so I was really taken back today when everything at this location was so horrible. We ordered the chili and we always have loved Clyde's chili but today there was so much chili powder in it ,it was not... More

I eat lunch here every other week with three colleagues and never get tired of the food. The menu has great standards, including tasty chili and wonderful crab cakes, and it changes regularly to include local seasonal food.

I have been to this location for over 10 years and always enjoy the atmosphere and service. However, tonight the waiter was rude and careless about our table and he only had three other tables to serve. The manager was not helpful either. I will seriously consider not coming back to this place ever again.

I was on a work trip and stopped here for dinner with four others. They had a little trouble seating a group of five together as the downstairs portion of the restaurant is mainly four person booths. But, the atmosphere is interesting and the darker lighting is relaxing. It was trivia night on Tuesday, which was great. It got the... More

When he brought our check, the waiter told us to leave a comment. Big mistake. Though it's attractively decorated, I got the feeling we were part of an assembly line. We'd started at the bar, so the waiter seemed to assume that was enough drinks for us. When we ordered our entrees, he scooped up the wine list after one... More

The food was okay - nothing at all special. My $9 glass of temperanillo was temperasoso; not so bad as to be sent back, but not of the quality I expect at that price. The service was especially spotty. Our waiter took my wine order and promptly departed before the other three had a chance to order. The climax of... More

I frequent this place with my kids and family members. The location is key as Friendship Heights is 10 minutes from my home, however, it's the consistency in good food, service and a lively environment that keeps me coming back. The kids love the elevated toy train that circles around reguraly and my Dad loves the impressive display of model... More
