The opening of Clyde's of Chevy Chase in 1995 brought more than just a fine dining experience to this growing Washington location. Situated in the heart of a prominent shopping district, this fascinating site celebrates the golden age of travel with steamships, planes and the Orient Express inside the two-level, 500 seat restaurant. Flavorful, fresh ingredients are used to prepare American style cuisine in the Travel Rooms on the main level, or in the casual atmosphere of the downstairs Race Bar and Dining Room.

Always fun

This place works for almost anyone. The decor is fun enough to interest the kids, the food and drinks are good enough to keep the grownups interested. Location makes it easy to visit as does the available parking. The food is more predictable than inventive, but there is something for everyone... read more

Lunching at 2:00 pm on a Thursday meant uneven service and food. The good news was that it was sufficiently quiet to have a normal conversation in our booth. The dried out three piece shrimp cocktail was borderline edible. We could not locate our server to request a check so an alternate helped us. Either this Clydes has gone downhill... More

Nice place and the waiter was very nice. Menu is all over the place. Food is just OK. Cut up bun was the bread plate. Probably would be better for breakfast.

Clyde's is massive in size and potentially extremely noisy is you come at peak times but what it offers may not be sophisticated but it is good and reasonably priced and it has convenient parking for those who come by car. The service could be better organized--don't be in a hurry-- but it is friendly.

Decided on Clyde's with a group that was attending a seminar nearby. It was a perfect place that was casual and offered many choices for a large crowd. Our server, Colleen was incredible. She was very knowledgable of the menu offering suggestions and she was most accommodating for the number of people at the table. The food was very good,... More

Was there for a light dinner with a friend. Large place, comfortable booths, was reasonably quiet for conversation. Affordable items on menu. Friendly, neatly dressed, and competent wait staff. For a light meal, the hamburger is great. They do allow lighter substitution for the fries. They list the hamburger as freshly ground, local, grass-fed beef. It was good enough for... More

After a family wedding a group of 15 or so of us went to Clyde's of Chevy Chase for Sunday brunch. We were not sure of our numbers, but the management was flexible, accommodating and easy to work with. The brunch was delicious, served by a skillful and professional wait staff. I recommend the eggs Chesapeake--a Maryland take on eggs... More

Nice brunch, cocktails excellent. Great atmosphere and decor. Burgers were very good. Fried green tomatoes were good but not excellent; a bit bland. Would recommend this restaurant and will visit again.

Every time we are in Chevy Chase we stop by Clyde's and it never disappoints. On this past visit the soup was great, and everyone was more than satisfied with their entrees. The wonderful surprise this time was the blueberry cobbler! We look forward to returning soon.

I love that Clyde's stays open until Midnight every night. It's difficult to find a good late night dining spot when that hunger pang hits. Well, this evening I tried what for me was a new item on the menu -- a chicken salad with peaches and peach vinaigrette. It was a definite winner!!! Keep it on the menu even... More
