The opening of Clyde's of Chevy Chase in 1995 brought more than just a fine dining experience to this growing Washington location. Situated in the heart of a prominent shopping district, this fascinating site celebrates the golden age of travel with steamships, planes and the Orient Express inside the two-level, 500 seat restaurant. Flavorful, fresh ingredients are used to prepare American style cuisine in the Travel Rooms on the main level, or in the casual atmosphere of the downstairs Race Bar and Dining Room.

average mid-level restaurant. Average food selection, average food quality, average service. Not the kind of restaurant I would run right back to

We visited this restaurant while visiting Washington, DC with our grandkids. It was close to where we were staying with a relative and my granddaughter wanted Shrimp Scampi which featured in their online menu. So we booked a table for 6 at 7 pm on a Sunday evening. When we arrived there a few minutes early, we were greeted promptly... More

Went to Clyde's for a family event. It's a nice looking restaurant, but the food was unexciting. The chicken parm came with a thick chicken breast with cheese and lacked flavor. The tomato sauce was chunky with an odd taste. Other family members were disappointed with the crab cakes and fish dishes ordered. The bread, buffalo wings and fried calamari... More

We love this place. The food is delicious. They offer a nice variety at great price points. The outside dining is a nice option to the quaint bar-like atmosphere inside. You must try the ice cream cookie sandwich. It is big enough for a family of four!

This place is in our neighborhood and sometimes we forget what a gem it is. While the dining is on the nice casual side, the environment of the place is that of a really nice restaurant. The menu has its standards, but there always new/seasonal dishes to choose from. The wait staff in unfailingly professional. A recent lunch gave a... More

Good salads and sandwiches. Perfect for a quick lunch on the way back to NYC. Had the duck confit salad and was pleasantly surprised.

Clyde's has improved its wine list considerably and the Hess Chardonnay is a nice bottle. The crab cakes are lumpy and quite good and either come as described on the menu or with two sides such as spinach and fries. The creme brulle is also very good. Overall a nice meal.

Unique atmosphere, good food and good value make this a great choice for family dining. It can get busy on the weekends, so make a reservation.

With rare exceptions, always reliable. As in reliably great. Great classic décor, almost always a table available, varied menu selection, tasty food, extensive bar list, and great service. Went on a Wednesday night, and though a bit crowded, table was quiet. Server could not have been better. He was attentive, helpful, and friendly when we asked about his interesting background....
