The opening of Clyde's of Chevy Chase in 1995 brought more than just a fine dining experience to this growing Washington location. Situated in the heart of a prominent shopping district, this fascinating site celebrates the golden age of travel with steamships, planes and the Orient Express inside the two-level, 500 seat restaurant. Flavorful, fresh ingredients are used to prepare American style cuisine in the Travel Rooms on the main level, or in the casual atmosphere of the downstairs Race Bar and Dining Room.

Lunch with friends

Good salads and sandwiches. Perfect for a quick lunch on the way back to NYC. Had the duck confit salad and was pleasantly surprised.

Clyde's has improved its wine list considerably and the Hess Chardonnay is a nice bottle. The crab cakes are lumpy and quite good and either come as described on the menu or with two sides such as spinach and fries. The creme brulle is also very good. Overall a nice meal.

Unique atmosphere, good food and good value make this a great choice for family dining. It can get busy on the weekends, so make a reservation.

With rare exceptions, always reliable. As in reliably great. Great classic décor, almost always a table available, varied menu selection, tasty food, extensive bar list, and great service. Went on a Wednesday night, and though a bit crowded, table was quiet. Server could not have been better. He was attentive, helpful, and friendly when we asked about his interesting background.... The soap was wonderful. Although it can be prices, it's a nice place to meet colleagues for drinks or grab a bite to eat after shopping.

I have been a fan of Clyde's for over 20 years--mostly dining at the restaurants in Georgetown, Alexandria, and Tyson's Corner. I visited the Chevy Chase location for the first time last week. Instead of my usual crab cake order, I decided to try the burger and fries, and good standby for comfort food. The meal was very good. The... More

This is a typical Clydes restaurant if there is such a thing. The food is always good with some interesting variations on an American theme. You won't leave hungry and you get good value for the money. The service is always friendly and good. But the real story as with most of their spots is the restaurant itself, the location... More

We came here to celebrate our Professor's Birthday. As soon as we walked in, we were awed by the nice-looking models of cars, planes, ships and trains. In fact, a little model train runs all around the Restaurant on rails built high up near the ceiling. There are luggage racks with suitcases on them, pictures of traveling ladies in vintage... More

We decided to have a late dinner at the Chevy Chase location. Walking on Wisconsin Avenue we love this restaurant which we found by chance. The food was very reasonably priced and really good quality - (try the burgers with homemade barbecue sauce. Excellent !!! They have a great atmosphere. Good service (I don't know when it is busy) ,... More

It seems that this is a hometown favorite (and there are locations all over that apparently are all different). I found this Clyde's to be fine, but nothing special. The food quality is "ok"; plenty of choices, and the staff is friendly, but the bartender while very friendly was going through the motions with my cocktail. I was served the... More
