How to Avoid the Dinner Crowd

Has it happened to you? You read the reviews and you want the dining experience. If it's sushi, there's little argument that Sushi Ko is a great destination. If you can, try the lunch special and avoid the dinner crowds.

This was the best sushi I have had in the DC metro area ever. It is not cheap but that is the point. It was fresh well presented and excellent.

Sushi Ko has raised its game. The food is truly delicious and unusual. The chicken gyoza I had yesterday were freshly made in the kitchen, and the waygu beef I cooked at the table on my own stone was wonderfully flavourful. Central for Friendship Heights shopping, it makes a quiet change whether you want a full meal, or drop in,... More

We are crazy about sushi and sashimi, have spent time in Japan, and are mighty picky when it comes to raw fish. We went to this restaurant a few years ago and were disappointed in nearly every respect. But our search for a very good source of sashimi and sushi led us to give them another try last night, and... I live really close to this sushi ko and always thought it was reliably good but now I think the sushi is excellent. I had the tuna special and it was really amazing. The sushi was fresh and melted in my mouth. Yum! Not exactly sure why it tasted so differently but I think there has been a chance in... More

Sushi Ko, long a favorite. Of ours, changed its menu in November and it is quite disappointing. Prices are up and the menu very limited and without a selection of entrees. The sushi roll choices are very limited. The manager said one could still order from what he called the "retro menu," but there is nothing written and so how... More

My only complaint is that, with the new menu, as of December 2014, I could not find what I wanted. (This was a return trip.) Eventually, under "sushi maki," I ordered the softshell crab roll; and it was one of the best dishes I have had. And the price was only $13. So what is the difficulty with expense (you,... More

Contemporary interior with somewhat awkward seating layout. Sushi very ordinary for very high prices. Miso soup not hot and thin; specialty rolls a big disappointment. I would not hurry back.

Consistently good. Love the agadashi tofu and tuna jalapeno roll. Service is attentive and helpful. We eat here probably three times per month and have never been disappointed.

Behind Sushi Ko's fast past exterior is a team thinking about how to creatively present traditional Japanese dishes to a Western audience. They succeed. Presentation and flavor rule. I especially enjoyed the sashimi. Convenient to metro and parking is available.
