This was my first visit to this restaurant. I expected more. The crab cake was average. One of the specials for the day was a Mexican relent. It was such a small portion that I was still hungry. The service was good.

This was our first visit to Chestertown and after completing the walk of sites suggested by the visitors' center, we were ready for a late lunch! As we walked to the main drag, we were surprised not to find a few more places to eat and decided to go back to the river near where we had parked our car... More

Went to Fish Whistle. Decided to sit outside to enjoy the gorgeous fall afternoon. After we ordered our drinks we were attacked by bee's. Now I understand that you sit outside that this is a chance you take, but while our server was standing at the very next table, as we got up and slowly walked away with our drinks,... More

We were aware of the reviews about poor service, and it was actually fun that the restaurant worked very hard to live up to those reviews. First, the food is fine - a great crabcake, first class fish and chips, a good beet salad - and the view from either inside or out on the deck was fun. The problem... More

This is my second review of the Fish Whistle and the first was not too great. But we went again for lunch. It was a beautiful day and we sat on the deck! Absolutely beautiful and we had some great local beer as we sat and chatted. The waiter was great (Bobby) and able to give us good advice on... More

Go for the view. Keep expectations in check! Since the Fish Whistle is the only restaurant in town actually on the river, it's fabulous for the ambience, particularly on the outside deck. Service was really weird (had to flag someone down after about 15 minutes), food can be so-so (crab dip in pretzel bread lacked enough crab but curry chicken... More

The view from the deck was great. The food was just okay. At least they were quick in getting it to us and the service was just a little better than average. If you didn't get a sandwich, it seemed a little pricey.

The food wasn't bad, but the view from the deck was awesome. I do have to say that they were quick and polite though.

The Fish Whistle is located on the Chester River at Chestertown, MD. While enjoying wonderfully prepared food, you can enjoy the constantly changing views over the river. The variety of boats is incredible this time of year. The food is a bit pricy, but the quality is really there. The crabcakes are excellent as is everything that I have tried.... More

We eat here all the time. Food is like any other restaurant. Sometimes food is overcooked, but we just tell the waitress to redo it please. Price is right.
