Lovely Valentine's Dinner Retreat

We came here for a quiet retreat and expecting a good meal. With that in mind - we were not disappointed! Wine selection was fairly good for the region and the meat dishes were absolutely fantastic. I had the duck and he had the surf and turf with lamb - succulent and savory both! Worth the... read more

Excellent fresh food; great seafood dishes, good presentations, excellent staff and owner extends himself.

We did not expect to find cuisine at this high a quality in a small town on the Eastern Shore, but we were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent, the service was great and we liked the ambiance as well. We would go back without hesitation.

I recently returned during a goose hunting trip to Chestertown. My last visit was in 20012. The restaurant hasn't changed a bit and retains great food in a quiet, comfortable atmosphere. The wait staff were competent explaining many options and the owner was on premises. One of my dining companions was celebrating a birthday and a special dessert was arranged... More

The owner greets you at the door, the staff are all friendly without being intrusive, the service is perfect and the food is always fantastic. I have to make myself not order the oyster fritter every time, it's that good!! The crab cakes are some of the best you will find and the rockfish is always amazing. But it's not... More

Who would have thought a restaurant in the small town of Chestertown, MD would offer what has to one of the best dinners we have had in the last five years, maybe more! And such a relaxing delivery- the server let us enjoy our first glass of wine while we talked about the day before going through the specials and... More

We ate here our second night in town and it was great. I had rockfish that was perfect. We walked in on the early side without reservations and were seated right away. By the time we left, it was full. Our server was very good. My only disappointment was the Pimms Cup, which lacked the usual cucumber and lemon or... More

Decor was well done in this very old building that has been through many iterations. The owner was willing and ready to provide the interesting background. My recollection is that this is the first incarnation as a restaurant. Crab stuffed shrimp (starter) with pineapple sauce earned rave reviews as the crab soup. Salads were nicely done. The rainbow trout stuffed... More

Six of us older adults, stopped in for an "up-scale" dinner in this wonderful small college town. We were greeted by the owner, given a great front window table, and our cocktails were quick to be served. Since sea food is one of the specialties, we all got crab cakes, shrimp, scallops, and even stuffed trout from the limited but... More

We like going to the Blue Heron because it is quiet (can actually talk to your friends and family) rather than many places where the noise is so loud. The food is excellent. Try their pasta or crabcakes. We are usualy greeted by the management and promptly seated. Only once did we not get in, because they were full. It... More
