Decor was well done in this very old building that has been through many iterations. The owner was willing and ready to provide the interesting background. My recollection is that this is the first incarnation as a restaurant. Crab stuffed shrimp (starter) with pineapple sauce earned rave reviews as the crab soup. Salads were nicely done. The rainbow trout stuffed... More

Six of us older adults, stopped in for an "up-scale" dinner in this wonderful small college town. We were greeted by the owner, given a great front window table, and our cocktails were quick to be served. Since sea food is one of the specialties, we all got crab cakes, shrimp, scallops, and even stuffed trout from the limited but... More

We like going to the Blue Heron because it is quiet (can actually talk to your friends and family) rather than many places where the noise is so loud. The food is excellent. Try their pasta or crabcakes. We are usualy greeted by the management and promptly seated. Only once did we not get in, because they were full. It... More

I am staying in town, and my Innkeeper highly recommended the food at the Blue Heron, calling it 'consistently good'. I stopped in for a glass of wine and an appetizer (baked brie - yum), and it was quite good, with somewhat indifferent service. So a few nights later (a Wednesday) I called ahead to ask to order dinner to... More

Blue Heron was a nice choice for dinner. We made reservations for our Friday night in town, though we wouldn't have needed them. The food was good and we enjoyed our evening.

Delightful setting in charming town. Comfortable, friendly service. Well over 18 years under same management speaks exceedingly well. Diverse and flavorful menu. And the crab cakes are outstanding!

We visit this historic town three or four times a year and try never to miss the Blue Heron. From the warm welcome at the door to the last goodbye we've been treated with great hospitality and service. The food is excellent, especially the seafood. This week began with a plate of oysters followed by a rockfish baked with a... More

After a day of biking on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, we wanted great food and a cozy dining experience. We were not disappointed. In fact, we had a fantastic experience with superb food, attentive service focused on meeting our every need and a very welcoming atmosphere from Paul the Proprietor. We were the first and only customers until another party... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by our B&B hostess and it was very good. We had the fried oyster appetizer and split the Rock Fish. The kitchen, on their own and with no additional charge, divided the dish and each of us was presented with a wonderfully prepared meal. The owner was a lot of fun to get to... More

Our fourth trip to Blue Heron over a three-year period. The food was amazing as usual. The service was great too. However the dinning room was so noisy you couldn't have a conversation. This is not condusive to fine dining. The atmosphere was more like a sports bar. It is a shame as the food and service are 5 star.... More
