Surpise dinner

We were in town for just one night: we asked around for where we might get the best dinner. Consistent local's response' The Blue Heron'. So, off we went, and walked in at 6.45 p.m. If you don't like crab, don't go to this town: it's everywhere, we love it! But just after we placed our order, we... read more

We've lived in the Eastern Shore for 15 years now... and May is soft crab season. We're fortunate to have the Blue heron as one of our local favorites... and what makes them so good is that they know how to fix seafood. We went here with another couple for our first local soft crabs of the season. Our starters... More

The Blue Heron is lovely. It is calm, peaceful, and quiet. We highly recommend the young duck prepared two ways, the shellfish en croute with saffron cream sauce, and the rack of lamb. The staff is warm, friendly and makes a great martini or whiskey sour. This is a great date night or family gathering spot.

While the food was very good, the service here is slow. Not only is it slow but it is condescending and I found it to be a bit too brisk for my liking. Had the food not been so good, I wouldn't come back.

Excellent fresh food; great seafood dishes, good presentations, excellent staff and owner extends himself.

We did not expect to find cuisine at this high a quality in a small town on the Eastern Shore, but we were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent, the service was great and we liked the ambiance as well. We would go back without hesitation.

We came here for a quiet retreat and expecting a good meal. With that in mind - we were not disappointed! Wine selection was fairly good for the region and the meat dishes were absolutely fantastic. I had the duck and he had the surf and turf with lamb - succulent and savory both! Worth the reservation just in case,... More

I recently returned during a goose hunting trip to Chestertown. My last visit was in 20012. The restaurant hasn't changed a bit and retains great food in a quiet, comfortable atmosphere. The wait staff were competent explaining many options and the owner was on premises. One of my dining companions was celebrating a birthday and a special dessert was arranged... More

The owner greets you at the door, the staff are all friendly without being intrusive, the service is perfect and the food is always fantastic. I have to make myself not order the oyster fritter every time, it's that good!! The crab cakes are some of the best you will find and the rockfish is always amazing. But it's not... More

Who would have thought a restaurant in the small town of Chestertown, MD would offer what has to one of the best dinners we have had in the last five years, maybe more! And such a relaxing delivery- the server let us enjoy our first glass of wine while we talked about the day before going through the specials and... More
