Good food dog friendly outside

We stayed 3 days in Chestertown and had meals twice at the kitchen. Loved the food and excellent wine list. The big plus was they were dog friendly and the staff and owner are pooch lovers. Steve has a great staff very attentive to your needs pointing out dishes which matched our craving's. One... read more

7 duck hunters made prior arrangements for a special meal. Steve greeted us and explained the menu; then he executed it very well. Two of us attempted to share the "rockfish" (actually striped bass - an excellent substitute) and the crab cakes, but Amy said it couldn't be done, so we did it ourself. The food was delicious. The wine... More

We kept coming back, hoping the hype of the new chefs would improve the experience. This time: a full restaurant, great servers, and most importantly great food! Highlights: pork tacos, crab balls, mushrooms all on the tapas menu. Tempura veggies were a little disappointing, but everything else was top notch! Nice wine menu, overall great meal.

I was in town recently and tried oysters on the half shell this visit. Superb. I really enjoyed the shallots and red wine vinegar on the side. My favorite with oysters. The creme brulee, when offered on the dessert menu, is the best I've ever had. I love the seasonal menus as well.

First Friday in Chestertown is a fun art walk and stores open late. Every other place we checked had at least a 40 minute wait, except the Kitchen at the Imperial. Should have been a sign. They were fairly busy, but the staff seemed very overwhelmed. We got a table right away and our server came to get drink orders.... More

I know that people rave about this place, but I just don't see that it deserves such praise. First, the service. The "front of the house" was very pleasant and helpful, but our server was far less so. He was unable to answer questions about the bar (for example, I asked what Irish whiskey was carried, he told me they... More

OK, here we go again with you! Last review you complained about our small wine list, the one with 54 bottles , 4 rosés, 5 sparkling and 18 by the glass options! This time, on the busiest day of the year, you have a whole list of issues, some of which I will address, some I will not since I... More

We ordered the seafood charcuterie plate first, asking for something other than bread to go with it after it arrived. Settling on carrots, the waitress went back to the kitchen and emerged about 10 minutes later with custom made for us delicious gluten free corn ships hot from the fryer. Our meal was well prepared, the place lively but not... More

chef does very well with the things on the plate, but the enormous waits just to get water let alone anything else clearly show that chef has much to do to train the staff outside of the kitchen. I've had more attentive service in diners! and with more polish. absolutely amateurish. this same experience was shared with us by others... More

I am glad you enjoyed the food at The Kitchen, but I am really sorry you had such a bad experience with the service. Staffing is always an issue in this area, sometimes with the individuals themselves and sometimes just with trying to find enough bodies to take care of the number of tables we have in the manner we... Eighteen of us called at ten am for dinner reservations. We arrived that evening and were shown to a private room. We were promptly served our cocktails by a very nice waitress. Some of us had scallops which were delicious. Many had swordfish and said that it was the best that they had ever eaten. All eighteen were full of... More

My waitress had a panicked look in her eye when she told me 18 people wanted a reservation within the next hour, my kitchen staff and I just high fived and said bring it on! I am really glad that my team was able to make it a special moment for your group. See you next year. Steve More

The Kitchen was a wonderful night out. The staff was terrific and the food was outstanding. My aunt had the red MD crab soup, and the crab cake. I had the scallops with the butternut squash risotto. Everything was delicious and had a beautiful presentation. Planning to return.
