Plan your meal around the chocolate bread pudding

The chocolate bread pudding is beyond incredible. The serving is plenty for 2 or 3 people. We also had pork wellington, which was very tender. The scallop special was cooked perfectly. The caesar salad was basic, nothing special. My dining companion really liked the crab dip. Service was on point... read more

We dined at the Imperial Hotel in October of last year and were really glad to hear that the couple that ran The Kitchen in Rock Hall was taking the restaurant over because our dinner was not well done. We promised ourselves we would go to the new restaurant the next time we were in Chestertown. We had lunch at... More

The quality of the Imperial has gone down a bit, but the bar has remained excellent. With an old fashioned ambiance, and old fashioned drinks, you can't go wrong. The barkeep is friendly, and this is the only "bar" I've been to that wasn't a speciality place serving Singapore Slings and cocktails from a bygone era. And, for half the... More

Small Plates or Large - Prices are fair and the selection runs a limited spectrum for my taste. Appetizer - Maryland Crap dip was wonderful - If you eat too much you'll kill you appetite. Caesar Salad - Small size was unacceptable - taste and lettuce was just not good. Shrimp and Grits - Shrimp was good but they scrimped... More

The Kitchen provides a varied Southern style menu. We were rather late in the evening, and opted for a series of small plates to share among friends. The dishes were varied, and all very tasteful. We went on a very cold winter night, and the room was rather chilly, and unfortunately many people decided to stay at home which made... More

We are long time locals and have seen lots of restaurants come and go. Recently we lost our favorite restaurant in Brooks Tavern and have been worried it would be a long time before we had another 'go to' place. We have been to The Kitchen at the their new location in Chestertown one time and it was great. Friendly... More

My husband and I had Valentine's Day dinner at the Kitchen at the Imperial. We have been to The Kitchen in Rock Hall several times and always enjoyed the food and the ambiance. While Chef Steve didn't greet every table as he did at the Rock Hall location, he did take the time to visit the dining area. The staff... More

had crab cake and vegetable entree. Not bad....not wonderful....nicely presented. The sign of a fine restaurant is the creativity and variety of the vegetable sides....the color and variety on the plate....any place can do a decent protein portion. This place is coming along but needs more customizing and creativity in the sides still....but it's new and deserves a chance. Service... More

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We enjoy the feedback. Sorry you found our sides wanting. We are not an A la cart restaurant and most of our dishes are composed dishes where a particular set of sides is matched to a protein because of seasonality or because the flavor profiles are complementary. The sides we offered... More

Our second visit to this Eastern Shore gem since they moved from Rock Hall, Md to the Imperial Hotel in historic Chestertown, Maryland. Our first visit was on their OPENING NIGHT and that was such a great experience (flawless dinner) that we knew we had to return. The evening's choices were Kitchen Crab (their version of cream of crab soup)... More

Having heard our friends rave about how fabulous The Kitchen in Rock Hall was my husband and I decided to try their latest location at The Imperial in Chestertown. We arrived at 5PM with no reservation but the hostess found us a spot in the bar which was perfect. In the future I would definitely make reservations! The decor is... More
