Went for an Anniversary celebration based on previous good reviews. While the view of the water and sunset was great, everything else was a disappointment. The waiter was hard to understand although he was attentive. The special pear and walnut salad lacked flavor, dressing was minimal and walnuts were not as advertised. While my wife's rockfish stuffed with crabmeat was... More

If you want an incredible meal, romantic ambiance and attentive service, then the Bayard House is where to go! My favorite meal is the Tournedos Baltimore-Twin Petite Filets Grilled, paired with a Petite Crab Cake finished with Madeira Cream Sauce & a Petite Lobster Cake finished with Seafood Champagne Sauce, Garnished with Caviar - phenomenal! On a beautiful day, sit... More

At this restaurant, you can sit outside along the canal. The food is good and the service is excellent. The only odd thing is that they make you go up steps to go inside to see the hostess. Then if you want to eat outside, you go back down the steps and down a path to the outside dining. It... More

What a fabulous restaurant. We showed up with reservations for six but added three more unexpectedly and they were more than happy to accommodated all of us with a smile. We were surprised by a wonderful waitress named Barbara who was a real joy. She joked with us and kept us in smiles and laughter some laughing so hard there... More

They have both an indoor and outdoor bar as well as seating. You can sit right on the edge of the D and C canal too. The food is always good but a prices have gone up a bit. A must visit while in Chesapeake City.

Been to Bayard House many time over the years. love the town, all about the building of the C&D canal and the hole in the wall. if neither of these are familiar, put this stop on your list for that reason alone. We stopped after two years, to find new ownership and a new bar waterside. Fresh shell fish and... More

We stayed in Chesapeake City and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Bayard House Restaurant. It's an old place that's exquisitely designed and furnished. The menu has a variety of delicious foods and wines. We ate in the dining room indoors as it was warm outside. The creme brulee was delicious. I highly recommend it!

When friends suggested we go to Bayard House, I cringed because my last meal there was terrible, but they all said it was a great place so I went along with them. I hated to say I told you so, but I did. No one really enjoyed their meals, meats were overcooked and dry, service was slow, they were out... More

We've eaten at the Bayard House several times in the past and enjoyed it. Last night was a different story. We arrived and had to wait for the Hostess who showed up after 10 minutes. She seated us and our server (young boy) introduced himself and disappeared. Eventually he showed up and took our drink and food order. He didn't... More

Had a outstanding lunch here as we sat outside with a great view of the canal. The drinks and food were very good as was the service. Not cheap but you get what you pay for and we did have a great time.
