Our third visit in ten years was our best! Staying in a B&B down the steet we made reservations for a Sat night and were promptly seated with a canal view as requested. I had a filet topped with crab and my spouse had rockfish with crab, both excellent. We shared a dessert which was a salted caramel chocolate crumb... More

Can't get a great meal in Chesapeake City, just average food. Bayard House has been a staple in Chesapeake City for at least 20+ years that I can remember. It was always top of the line and the best choice in the area. Now it is okay, more elegant than Shaffers Canal house but the food is just okay. View... More

I enjoyed my time at Chesapeake city MD and plan to return. I will not eat at the Bayard house in though because it was just ok. The meal was good but was nothing special. The ice tea was fresh brewed and so the ice melted and so I drank warm tea. We were with a large group and so... More

We came in late by boat and the upstairs part of the Bayard House was closed. However the hostess led us to the Hole in the wall bar in the basement. We could still order anything that was available upstairs thanks to the friendly owner/chef who was in no rush to leave. The owner was a paid crew on Bolero... More

Enjoyed it, good food and service on a quiet Friday lunch. Liked the nice canal view. Menu had a good selection and price range. It was to cold to sit outside in mnarch but it looks to have a great outdoor setup for the summer visits. Recommend.

Visited this restaurant on "burger special" night. Probably wouldn't have had a burger, but it was the special of the night. We ordered medium rare and got extra well done( blackened). It really was a shame because everything was great ( appetizers, soup, service, and the house hole in the wall ale). We were offered something else because the server could see... More

Excellent food , drink, and atmosphere! This is the best place in town for an intimate dinner or drink. The wait staff is the best around.

Lovely location, charming building, excellent food and drink, and fine service make for a very pleasant and rewarding dining experience at this restaurant on the Delaware/Chesapeake Canal. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the neighboring shops in this charming town, Chesapeake City.

This place is a welcome respite for a nice quite weekend dinner. Have been coming since 1990. It is a real gem! Nothing in Philly compares to it. Great ambiance; excellent drink selection; reasonable prices, and best Bloody Mary on East Coast--hands down. The Bloody Mary contains real tomatoes juice (high quality), fresh horseradish, celery, shrimp and is perfectly garnished.... More

The Bayard House is a charming restaurant located in historic Chesapeake City, which is open year round. The view of the waterfront is extraordinary from the large second floor window-framed dining area. The inner rooms are also quite attractive, but not as breathtaking. However, the outside patio on the first floor with additional inside dining is perfect for viewing the... More
