I would like to give 5 star's but the restroom in this historical building is located in the basement which can be a bit tricky for the elderly. However the food is outstanding and the service is first class.

Excellent food!! Well known restaurant under new management which has improved its menu. Can be casual to wedding reception appropriate. Very efficient and friendly staff. Prices comparable to other restaurants with this type of menu.

Traveling to Chesapeake City I chanced upon The Bayard House Restaurant. Solo I opted for the bar down stairs called The Hole in the Wall, Decor was nothing special but the food, I had, was excellent. Appetizer I ordered was the Wild Mushroom Strudel-Sautéed Wild Mushrooms with Shallots & Sherry Cream, wrapped in Puff Pastry & served with Roasted Red... More

We decided to eat here as a result of the amazing reviews on Trip Advisor. The history of the restaurant is very nice and the view is stunning. However, once seated, we felt uneasy as our waitress did not seem to greet us with the same cheerfulness as she used with the other guests. First she looked at us funny... More

another sad meal at the once wonderful Bayard House. this time a live crab crawled across my plate - escaping a shucked oyster shell. the owner amazingly proclaimed "it wasn't their fault" - perhaps not. but there went my appetite. amazing.

Hole in the Wall is the name of the downstairs (or, in season, outside) bar and restaurant below the Bayard House Restaurant. It is a more casual atmosphere and seems to attract mostly local clientele. There's a more limited menu than upstairs in the main dining room, but the food was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. We thoroughly... More

I enjoyed a light lunch with a friend who is familiar with the area. The historic Bayard House has been in existence since around 1790 and has a long and colourful history. We sat on an enclosed porch overlooking the canal and the scenery was peaceful and lovely. Our salads were prepared with care: mine was spinach with bleu cheese,... More

I was there for dinner last night & we had a wonderful meal. To start, hubs got the crispy oysters & I got the wild mushroom strudel, which was delicious. The bread brought to the table was actually 2 small slices of white, 2 slices of an herb bread, & 2 seeded crackers - all tasty. We shared their Berries... More

Great dinner with friends. We did not have reservations but we were seated immediately. We sat outside by the canal. The waiter took our drink and appetizer order within a few minutes of our being seated. My husband had the little neck clams and loved them. Our friends had the oysters and said they were excellent. I had the filet... More
