Frozen flat fried shrimp

Recently visited after a very long time. Crab dip was good, crab legs were also, but friends ordered the crab balls and fried shrimp. Immediately when served we could tell they were frozen flat fried shrimp. I don't understand why seafood restaurants can't have fresh seafood vs frozen. Very... read more

Not negative, nor demanding here. I do not enjoy giving bad review. But, have to share with others. The setting is fantastic and beautiful by the water. Went on a Sunday for lunch. Not many people; maybe 2 tables with people. All plastic, cups, plates. I paid $19 buck for a moderate size platter (plastic basket) of lots of fries,... More

Recently an article appeared in the Alexandria free paper discussing Stoney's. We took a chance on drove over from VA for lunch. Located on one of the many tributaries to the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River, the view was worth the trip. And then came the food, and service both of which were excellent. Two of our group had Fried... More

For years, Stoney's set a high standard for seafood in the Prince Frederick area. However, on the evening of 9/19, for us, that standard changed. They were out of soft shell crabs and fried oysters (key menu items). The broiled rockfish alternatives were paltry at best. The service was a joke. With reordering and waiting and waiting, we were there... More

Was in the area for a 3-day getaway and went here twice for lunch. The food was average, but the setting is GREAT! Right on the water -- in fact some tables are on a floating dock! Beautiful view, cold beverages, and friendly staff. Rockfish bites were the best item we ordered. Great local hangout...

Restaurant on the water, plenty of outdoor areas to eat. Also a big tent with a live band and dancing. Come by boat or land. Enjoyed the salad with shrimp, mussels, stuffed mushrooms, drinks. Great atmosphere, fun day.

Word of mouth and Washington Post proclaimed this to be the #1 Crab Cake in the area. Stoney's menu states A half pound of pure crabmeat served with coleslaw. A Stoney’s original Voted #1 by Washington Post. However, reality was a different story. We were served crab cakes that if you looked very very close you might find some cab... More

We had a nice Saturday afternoon late lunch for three hours at Stoney's! We were having crabs, shrimps and crab cakes. The crab cakes were huge and probably the best I ever had. We devoured probably around 30 crabs. These were very tasty. The waitress took perfect care of making sure we didn't miss anything! Thanks to the whole staff... More

First came here in mid-1990's when we had a boat, and came by land and water many times. Boat is no more, but we make the long trip from Northern VA at least once a year. We went this past Sunday for a late lunch and ate outside under an umbrella on dock so that we could enjoy the peaceful... More

This is really a great, casual, cool location with a mini mannade waterfall, separate outdoor bar, Adirondack chairs and plenty of places to tie up your boat. The #1 crabs were meaty and very tasty yesterday at lunchtime! We also ordered Rockfish Bites and Calamari for appetizers, both gobbled up in minutes by our crew of kids. And steamed shrimp...cooked... More
