Be advised that this is a bar, but that being said, it is an great place for a laid back dinner with lots of excellent options for comfort food! From tater-tots to crab dip with soft pretzels for starters to gourmet hotdogs, sliders and boneless buffalo wings . . . it all looked so good! We settled on the crab... More

Discovered by accident but a wonderful surprise. Old style pub/sports bar but the mix works. Plenty of TVs in an old dark wood interior. Even had an old fashion darts board. Staff was very friendly and efficient. The meals were great. I had the sampler BBQ sliders and my partner had the House Hot Dog. The pulled pork slider was... More

We're from out of town and were looking for a place to go out. Although the pub was pretty dead (it was a week night), the staff was very nice and fun to be around. Also very helpful trying to help us figure out places to go. The only thing we ate was the crab cheese dip and it was... More

We dropped in here with our three kids after a long day sight seeing in DC. It was a short walk from our hotel and a great meal. The pub food hit the spot... Service was great... Enjoyed our meal.

We were here briefly ending our pub crawl. This place came recommended for late night dancing. It's a spacious two-story speakeasy kind of bar. Everything, including floors is made out of wood, so be prepared for some slight musty smell. There's a DJ on the second floor. There weren't too many people while we were there, so it looked super... More

Generally a very friendly atmosphere. A typical bar, not new or modern, but a good vibe. Solid staff and a great bartender when I visited. A classic old style pub in the heart of gentrified Bethesda.

I love the Dog! For several years I have traveled to Bethesda 2-4 times per year for business. I never miss a night at The Barking a Dog on at least one night of my trip. The staff is the absolute friendliest. Matt, one of the bartenders, always remembers our group and often remembers our favorite beverages--feels like "home". Whenever... More

This review is specific to hosting a party at the Barking Dog, although we have eaten in the restaurant and the atmosphere is great as is the food! My (now) husband and I were looking for a laid back location for our rehearsal dinner, walking distance from our Bethesda venue. After an endless stream of vendors who weren't quite right... More

Place is a good stop for a drink. It is the closest you'll find to a 'dive' bar in Bethesda. Food is typical bar food.

This is not your typical Bethesda bar. As for decor this is what an old school bar looks like, old wood bar, old wood and tile floor, that old school tavern look. Something far out-of-place then the rest of the place in Bethesda, something more that would think to see in the Fells Point section of Baltimore. I happened to... More
