We had not visited Le Vieux Logis before, so we can't compare the new regime with what had gone on before, but we were certainly delighted with our experience on a recent Friday evening in August. The new owners bring a real enthusiasm and brio to the establishment, and the kitchen is first-rate. The place was nearly full when we... More

We had stopped going to Le Vieux Logis as its menu got stale. Happily all is revived by the new chef. Ambience is that of a pleasant French country inn. The paintings on the outside walls are still beautiful. Service is friendly and attentive. Drinks are great. We enjoyed a wonderful shrimp appetizer and one of the best quenelles outside... More

Le Vieux Logis has just been bought by the chef who had been at Praline's Bakery in Bethesda. He has brought his signature dishes with him and is also branching out. The food is excellent and the restaurant is very comfortable and service is very attentive without being fawning. It is a good value for the quality of food. It... More

We are lucky and privileged to have Christian Gatroix as the chef and the owner of Le Vieux Logis. He did a wonderful job at the Praline Bistrot before buying out this place. One thing you can be assured - you will always have a great meal. If for some unforeseen reason you won't' -ask for Christian and he will... More

On the edge of one of Bethesda's dining districts is a charmingly decorated cafe that should be on everyone's list for a special night out. The atmosphere is French country, but the cuisine is upscale French. As an aficionado of soft shell crab, I will certify (as will my wife) that the best soft shell crab that I have ever... More

We revisited this venerable and tried-and-true French restaurant after new management and chef took over. The crowded interior and hand-written checks are unchanged, but the well-trained and experienced new chef has new ideas and new menu items. I tried the quenelles a la Americaine (with lobster sauce) as a first course and found them sturdy rather than fluffy but tasty.... More

Our party of four went to this restaurant after learning of the new Chef and good reviews. The place was busy and that made us optimistic. The staff was pleasant though not overly professional or elegant. Not well dressed or refined. But pleasant enough. The decor is old school, old building, not quaint, just tight corners and old decorations, tables,... More

Based on the great trip advisor reviews, we ventured across the Potomac into Maryland to check out this French restaurant in Bethesda. It was a very good, decent restaurant--but not as great as some of these reviews led us to believe. Service was decent, although it started just a bit slow. Also, our waitress never told us about the evening... More

We've been to this restaurant many times and it was always good. Read in the paper that it had been sold and the new owner was the former chef at another restaurant we frequent. The night we went we didn't have a reservation but the restaurant wasn't full and we were seated right away. Then we waited for a server... More

Party of 4 had an early dinner. Order was taken promptly, 3 of the party had Dover Sole each asked for it prepared differently and all 3 orders were done perfectly. The mussels were lovely. The bread basket came with several choices and the butter was perfect, ready to spread always a good sign for us. Nice choices on the... More
