We had a great time eating crabs outside with our son who had never had them before. But don't eat inside it smelled!

We were surprised by some of the negativity in the reviews. Yes, the decor is second rate minimal but that's what makes it crab proof (wooden mallets can be lethal to table tops). We did not find service slow at all - crabs were fresh and wonderfully spiced, the coleslaw and corn were well prepared and good quality. Great value... More

The first time in Bethesda for me was October 2013...I was looking for a place for a quick bite & stumbled on to Bethesda Cab House on the Net...I love crabs so I gave it a try...It was a short walk from the hotel I stayed in...So casual but so good! If you're looking for a romantic night out this... More

In the DC area on business and a group of 10 decided to go the crab house for all you can eat crab feast ($39.00). We were informed that they didn't have enough crabs for everyone for that all you can eat crabs. You could order off the menu for an order of 6 at an even more inflated price.... More

To out-of-towners - it helps to know what to expect. This is a crab house. This is the way we in Maryland do crabs. No one is going for "a look." A crab house generally has tables covered in brown paper and plastic knives and mallets for breaking claws and picking the meat. And plastic buckets for the discarded shells... More

My wife and I were vacationing in the Washington DC area and staying in Chevy Chase Maryland. A friend recommended the Berhesda Crab House and since it was a short walk from our hotel we decided to try it. There is no pretension or frills to the ambience. It was raining the evening we went so we went inside to... More

I was in town on business and was looking for a seafood restaurant and I came across this place. Upon walking in, I just about turned around and walked out. The restaurant is very plain and looks like the break room from an industrial plant. I decided to stay as I figured they wouldn't possibly still be in business if... More

The place is very informal with the table covered with paper to keep the crab from splattering all over the place. You go there and dig into their specialty -- Steamed Crabs. Excellent! Also terrific -- Steamed Shrimp, Corn on the Cob, Crab cakes and ice cold beer! WOW -- Have been there twice in the last two visits to... More

This is definitely not a fancy place - more of a joint. So we weren't sure about it when we arrived, but the reviews had been good. We just wanted crab cakes for lunch. So glad we stopped. The crab cakes were delicious - so tasty and fresh and the price was right. I wish we would have had time... More
