Went to this restaurant for the first time last night. The waiters were very nice and attentive to any needs. This restaurant by far had the best Afghan food that I've tasted in the area. The only issue I had with the place is that it is a bit expensive for the amount of food served. I ordered the Mantu... More

We have been going to Faryab since our kids were little (they are in their late 20's now doit ya been a while!) and keep going back because the food is so good. The menu doesn't change and the quality of the food never waivers. Their lamb kabobs are skyways juicy, tender, and flavorful. The Aushsk is afghan comfort good.... More

Faryab is a very nice restaurant with really great and authentic Afghan food. The price is right and the service is good. Parking is difficult, but that's Bethesda! The kabobs are excellent and the rice is fabulous. The bread is made on demand is is also fabulous. Even the desserts are good. I highly recommend Faryab. It's good food with... More

We had gone here years ago and really enjoyed it. Tried it again this week and were really disappointed. We went with another couple and all shared the four vegetarian entrees. The best was the eggplant and yogurt. The others were plain and boring. For instance, the spinach dish was just spinach - no cheese, yogurt, - nothing - not... More

This is one of the many fine ethnic restaurants on Cordell Street. The cuisine is unusual and the food is well prepared. We had lamb with raisins, carrots and basmati rice as well as some great appetizers. The service was good. The prices were a bit high relative to the serving size.

I love Faryab. I live in Bethesda and will often bring my out-of-town guests here. If you want to go to a high-end chain restaurant and rub elbows with folks dressed-to-impress, go to Bethesda Row. However, if you're interested in a different experience, go to Faryab -- a tucked-away family-run gem that is authentic, comfortable, and makes you feel at... More

This restaurant is a true gem and one I would love to come back to. There were several Afghani families in the restaurant during our time which was a good sign to me that they liked the food too? We ordered several platters and enjoyed every morsel. Everything was cooked to perfection and was incredible. I will definitely return on... More

Some of the dishes we ordered were outstanding, but others, like the lamb stew with spinach, just didn't seem to work. Service was attentive and, although we were in and out in less than an hour, didn't feel rushed

If you want to try something different, but don't want very spicy food, Afghan food is for you, and this place is one of the best in the D.C. area. The owner is really friendly, and tries hard to accommodate you, even if you don't have a reservation. It's not cheap, admittedly, but that doesn't mean that it's not worth... More
