My husband and I have been dinning at Faryab for years. We usually get their chicken/lamb kebab. I am from Middle-East; I should tell you, I have never had kebab this good. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are friendly. The owner has an unusual sense of humor, so for those who are not familiar with Middle-Eastern culture,... More

Invited to meet an old friend at an Afghan Restaurant, I was appreheensive out of ignorance. This pleasant storefront restaurant in the middle of a "restaurant row" on Cordell Ave in Bethesda, was nearly empty when we arrived at 8, but filled quickly. Waiting for our friend, we ordered a couple of appetizers "just to try" and were utterly delighted... More

Been going here for years and I always leave happy. Not a bargain but the food is never disappointing. Friendly staff--good ma and pa feel to the place. Always busy so be ready if you don't have a reservation. Sunday night was even nearly full upon our 730 arrival. Parking not bad--use the public lot down the street.

My wife and I have been coming here for years and are never disappointed. My wife is addicted to the pumpkin (she is not a vegetarian). I really like the sabsi gushti (lamb and spinach). While Afghan food may sound as if it is going to be really exotic in actuality it is very accessible.

Faryab is an interesting Afgan restaurant. The food is very good, the atmosphere is okay, and the owner was rude. We were what I believe are regulars and showed up at a particularly busy time without a reservation. We had been there many other times without a reservation. There were a few empty tables, and the owner showed us to... More

Friends love this restaurant and wanted to share it with us. When we arrived, we also met friends who were eating at a near by table. They also frequent this restaurant often. We were very unimpressed. The decor is very plain and unwelcoming. The food was dry and un appealing. The eggplant was decent enough, but not worthy of a... More

Went here with a large group for business dinner. Most was "OK". Rice dishes with raisins and carrots were the best. Spinach and pumpkin sides are a must. Careful on the spicy turnips- they are spicy. Though prices were a bit high for the size of the portions ($6.95 for a few tablespoons of spinach), Lamb dishes wee a bit... More

It was the first time eating afghan food, so I can't really say if it was authentic or not. What I can say is that it was delicious. I had a taste of a lot of the things that were on the menu, as we ordered dishes to share. Note that starters and side dishes are almost the same as... More

This is one our regular restaurants -- about 6 times a year for the last 5 years. The food -- all of it (except the bread) -- is absolutely terrific. Always. Our favorites are the chicken and lamb kabob and the spinach. The service is just perfect: warm, professional, not intrusive. Not super-luxury atmosphere, but authentic, attractive, comfortable. Very reasonable... More
