We came in for Sunday brunch and to try Mussel Bar & Grille for the first time. We ordered our food (3 of us ordered mussels) . When he delivered our appetizers, our rather overly boisterous waiter informed us they did not receive their shipment of mussels. He said he didn't know this before we ordered...pretty doubtful as it was... More

Mussel Bar is run by Brasserie Beck owner/chef and is located in south part of Bethesda entertainment area. I had previously been here and sampled the mussel offerings and they are superb, although a bit pricey. On this visit, decided on Salmon, my wife on the red trout. Other couple tried the Lobster Roll ( they are steeped in Boston... More

Third time around at Mussel Bar didn't disappoint. In fact, the service this time was even better than before. Our appetizer was excellent and my mussels were wonderful -- just wish I had more room in my tummy!

Went here on a yelp review as we had a group of six for work with all dietary needs. Excellent beer choices, had the curry mussels which were to die for. You can share a dish as you'll need room for the dippy bread

Sure, you expect to get gouged in Bethesda. But you'd likewise expect the food to be excellent. It wasn't. It's noisy too. The mussels were tough and the curry sauce for one variation was much too spicy. The bread, mentioned in another review, was decent but perhaps only because it seemed to have been made elsewhere. Their pizza was laughably... More

The mussels are now offered in four varieties, three of which list cream as an ingredient;really? When you Order Moulles et frites, you now have a choice of real frites or sweet frites each carries an additional charge. The mussels were orange tinged, plump and a bit tough but stiil enjoyable. The frites came to the table 15 minutes after... More

Not much need be said other than these are the best mussels in Bethesda, and among the best I have ever had. I recommend for first time visitors to try getting them to give a sampling of three different kinds, which they offered to do. All are very flavorful, and fairly different, but what really makes it is the bread... More

.....and when it is bad it is horrid! Our first time there we might well have been in Brussels, the mussels were so go, the sides quite tasty, and the Belgian beer on tap wonderful. Our second venture was on a Sunday, and perhaps one is best advised not to go to a restaurant when the main chef is not... More
