Not much need be said other than these are the best mussels in Bethesda, and among the best I have ever had. I recommend for first time visitors to try getting them to give a sampling of three different kinds, which they offered to do. All are very flavorful, and fairly different, but what really makes it is the bread... More

.....and when it is bad it is horrid! Our first time there we might well have been in Brussels, the mussels were so go, the sides quite tasty, and the Belgian beer on tap wonderful. Our second venture was on a Sunday, and perhaps one is best advised not to go to a restaurant when the main chef is not... More

We loved the mussels (their main dish) and garlic bread. The people watching is fantastic in the outdoor seating area. It was our first visit and we hope to return again soon...

We had our first meal at Mussel Bar last week after not trying it since it opened. Having lived in Belgium we opted for mussels. The broth was good (I had a tomato based broth and Lisa had a cream based) but the individual mussels were small and portions were skimpy compared to our experiences in Leuven. Extensive beer menu... This ia one of several outlets of celebrity chef Robert Weidmier, with emphasis on his Belgian background for food and beverages. It is about a block from where I live and I can se it from my window (when the leaves are off the trees). I have been in there several times and I would rate it between average and... More

We ended showing un unknown to us that it was all you can eat oyster say for $30. Sounds like a great deal when the oysters are as fresh as can be. But then lines made it almost not worth it. You Would would get four at a time, then back in line you go. We opted to order off... More

We sat at the bar and had cocktails and dessert. The desserts were good as were the cocktails. Best thing about our visit was the bartender who was very friendly. I don't think we will necessarily be back here as Bethesda is not a city we enjoy very much. We happened to be in the area so we dropped in... More

Had dinner there with my wife and daughters on August 14. I've been there three times since it opened and my daughters even more. We used to enjoy the quality of the food and the beer selection. Things have changed for the worst. We order three different beers, nothing fancy, none of them was available. The mussels were as small... More

If you like a very noisy saloon atmosphere with big screen tv's everywhere broadcasting sports, then this is the place for you. The food isn't much better than the atmosphere. Perhaps we are spoiled because we usually eat mussels in Maine, but the mussels were not very fresh and were not cooked to order because they were dried out. And... More
