There are many Indian restaurants in this area, and there can be a "sameness" to their offerings. The food in these different restaurants is generally good but often it tastes as if it all could have been made in the same kitchen or using the same recipe. We had not been back to Passage to India in a long time;... More

Passage to India has an excellent concept, a menu organized by regions of India. The restaurant is decorated in eclectic Indian style with elegant white table ambiance. Service is attentive and helpful. We really appreciated the variety of flavors in our foods, superior to any Indian restaurant we been at in the Washington, DC area, including certain highly praised downtown... More

I am Indian and I don't usually eat at Indian restaurants as I find them pretty generic. Passage to India offers dishes from four quadrants of India. For those who are not familiar to Indian cooking besides chicken tikka masala, this is the best place to try different cuisines of India. Bohri Murgi was the best chicken I ever had... More

Grew up eating Indian food, moved around the U.S. always hoping to find good Indian restaurants and have been successful. However, this was not a good experience at all. The decor is interesting, the staff attentive and the food was dreadful. The chicken chunks in my Coorgi Murg were not quite rock hard but dense and extremely chewy. I felt... More

We love this place. The decor is authentic. The food is really well prepared and served. The menu has food from all areas of India which makes it most interesting.

My parents and I went to Passage to India last week for the first time. We loved it! The menu offers a wide variety of appetizers, main dishes, sides, breads, etc. We got the crab appetizer to share, and then two of us had the chicken masala and one had the shrimp curry. We also had a lentil side, a... More

My wife and I visited Passage to India in February on a Living social voucher that gave us an extraordinary value. The decor of the restaurant was very appealing and unrushed. The availability of menu items from four regiions of India was appealing. On top of that, Tandoori options were offered. I hoped for seafood; unfortunately, except for shrimp, only... More

We went to Passage to India to celebrate a birthday. The atmosphere was excellent! The music was not to our taste but it was tolerable. Food was very good. The yellow dal had a liquid consistency and the flavor wasn't as good as the black dal. The black one was excellent. The chicken makhani was excellent, flavored just right. The... More

Generally enjoyed the food on previous occasions. This time it looked and tasted as if the chef was in a hurry and tossed in a lot of undercooked onions and other garnish as filler. Lamb chops land chicken lacked flavor. Disappointed.

After reading a review in the Washington Post, my wife and I decided to try this restaurant. As lovers of Indian food (and frequent travellers to India), we are always looking for great local Indian restaurants. The food was excellent. The service was a little slow but the meal was a treat. Of greatest interest was the menu. It was... More
